The problem with the CG in Star Wars wasn't so much that it was CG, but that they used CG to create a visual style totally inconsistent with the other films. Ships were shiny, new and metallic, while in the old films they looked beat-up and well-used. Had they kept a similar visual style, I think it would've been markedly less jarring.

    Just my two cents, anyways.

The only recent live-action film thats used CGI effectively for me is Transformers. Basically because the only thing that was CG was the transformers.

Well, that's an entirely different problem.

But what bothered me the most about Episodes 1-3 is that the ships weren't Star Wars ships. They looked like the kind of glossy, overly shiny crap you'd find in something else, not the 'lived-in' look that Star Wars always had.

I can forgive bad acting for awesome space battles, if only because that's another reason to see a movie (pure visceral entertainment). Sadly, Star Wars 1-3 had neither.

Well, before the prequels I didn't have footage of Hayden Christensen as a burning disembodied torso.

I have a feeling that's going to come in handy if the bastard wrecks Neuromancer.

Which is why Lucas is creating yet another series based on that timeline.

Because he clearly hasn't made enough money yet.

They're making a Neuromancer movie? And Hayden Christiansen is involved?

There's a certain amount of disbelief with Iron Man and Transformers that isn't apparent in Master and Commander. I would've believed back then that they had filmed the entire movie at sea (and they did a lot in reality) without using any CGI.

it's less of a realism gripe as it is a totally out of place in those movies gripe

I like to bitch about inconsequentials in all my movies. I once burnt down a theatre because I noticed that during the Postman, one of the soldiers had laced his boots up in what was obviously the reverse of the way it was done back then.
