If you're not aware, Blast Works is based off of Tumiki Fighters which is a game made by Kenta Cho of ABA Games. There you will find some of the best freeware shooters ever created.
It seems Majesco (developed by Budcat) has liscenced his work and made it into Blast Works, which initially just seemed to be a port of Tumiki Fighters. Somewhere along the way it became a sort of Game 2.0 where you can customize basically anything, and create your own levels and characters and enemies and then share them with friends or just put your creations on the web.
Unfortunately the multiplayer seems to be local, but it would seem that the customization is the big draw for this game anyway. Some reviews have come in and it does seem to be getting fairly good reviews: http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/941651.asp
See, I was excited till I read it was only for the Wii.

I am seriously considering picking this up. I love Kenta Cho's work and having all of this in one package I'm able to play from my couch, and have all the customization is fucking awesome.
What are those gigantic sub-weapon growths that shoot out of the ship for a second?
In Tumiki Fighters, whenever you kill an enemy you can grab their corpse and it'll attach to your ship. The enemy will then use their attack whenever they are shown. You can press a button to hide all the 'attachments' that you have. They also fall off when they are hit by a bullet.
I like the first video because it's got a pair of hands fucking with the Wii remote / nunchuck just so that it's clear that it's a Wii game. I mean, seriously, they're just flailing their hands about. It has nothing to do with the game.
I wonder if there's stock footage for "fucking around with Wii remote and nunchuck."
Only that I'm pretty confused by the bullet patterns, because sometimes they look like they should hit, but don't, then they hit.
Pretty good music, too.
Yeah, this thread reminded me of Torus Troopers and how awesome it is, but I'm still confused as how to dodge bullets or what a good technique is for doing well. I just go really, really fast and hold down the fire button and spin around and hope I don't die.

I've heard mixed reviews on the music, however I'm pretty sure Kenta Cho had little to nothing to do with this game, he just allowed Budcat to use/port his older games. Also apparently you can't import your own music into custom levels.
Then again I'm sure the ports will have the same music, so who knows.
Some of the more interesting tidbits are that you can make the screen scroll in any ONE direction you want (up down left right) and can also toggle the "sticky ship" stuff.
I've been so excited for this game since it was first revealed. I just recently played some of the ABA games (for the first time) and they're really cool, I'm excited for BW and all it's customization. Plus:

is awesome. I'd love to make top-down levels as well as horizontal.

I actually made some of that footage once for a local news channel. It was a story on Manhunt 2 (surprise surprise), but they also wanted a close-up of my hands messing around with the Wii-mote, so I just pretended like I was playing Tanks from Wii Play.
I've heard mixed info about the release date.. so.. if anyone sees it out on the street let me know so I can cancel my Amazon order before they ship it.
Fingers crossed it actually turns op on shelves today.
I've been dying to get into the user created stuff ever since I first heard of it. My first instinct was to put together my own version of R-Type, but now that I know about the vertical-scrolling option, I'm actually eager to try and do a variation of Space Invaders. The blocky graphics would fit perfectly, especially with a green-black color scheme.
In any event, I'm insanely anxious to dig into this game. I really think Boom Blox would have benefited from the kind of content sharing method used by Blast Works, because creating levels in that game was a pretty lonely experience without the real ability to share with others.
I don't have enough money for this, but I already have it queued up on Goozex, so hopefully someone will buy the game and hate it, and ship it right out to me. I hope the paper airplane stage from the trailers is built into the game, because it really fit with the graphical style.

There is a website for the game here: http://blastworksgame.com/
And the Depot is already online if you want to check it out: http://blastworksdepot.com/
I'm mostly just looking forward to seeing what is made from this, but I'm pretty sure that 90% of everything made will just be flying dongs.
Anyway, here are some links if you want to get more info or see more screens:

Why do they have it as one word no wonder I couldn't find it...

Also, thread delivers.
I can't tell if you're trying to mock me or if you just forgot to lime...
It's pretty goddamn awesome!

I was agreeing, but I rarely lime. Those who ask for lime get "off-lime." You get what you deserve, greedy-guns.

If it's anything like other Kenta Cho games it will look far better in motion.
Gave it a 8.1... I don't know what that means since I don't really pay attention to scores anymore.
Looks like storage space might be an issue... C'mon Nintendo stop bring retarded and let some hack up some HD storage or even flash.
Then again I'm sure the ports will have the same music, so who knows.
Also, there is a dev posting on the GameFAQ forums here: http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/gentopic.php?board=941651

Shit, there goes one of my ideas.
Checked Amazon and it said: Shipping estimate: June 16, 2008
Also I've heard that Best Buy had it as the 17th.. so.. welp.
(I have never heard of this website before...)

I've heard that it should be in stores tomorrow.. so.. um.. yeah. At least it better be due to the fact that I just cancelled my order via Amazon.
Just bought a damn video card and my funds are shot.
Dammit. I'm not made of money, people!
