    This. So much.
The best part was that I usually would sprint up and slam a boss in the jaw to give myself a little breathing room and quick bit of damage applied.

So the battle, for me, was over in under a second.

Putting SM3 on hold for now, since I might be able to get Guitar Hero 2. Man so much SM3 hate... Mainly from the people who loved SM2, so maybe that's why.
SM3 wasn't terrible.. Well kind of was.. But more importantly it didn't accel in anything like with SM2.

I mean yeah the combat was fairly plain in SM2 and there wasn't much in the city but at least webswinging was so much fun. In SM3 the webswinging is less fun, the combat no better, city just as bland.

I liked SM2s combat more than 3's. Lots of backflips and dodges and such, was frantic though when the stronger (read: more hp) enemies come along it gets a little annoying, especially when they are designed to be immune to pretty much all your good attacks.

Ultimate Spider-Man actually had my favorite combat system.

Now if they could just combine SM2's swinging with that.

The combat was certainly the weakest point to SM2. Some of it was very cool, like scooping up baddies and taking them for a tour of NY before double kicking them straight down from 40 stories.... But fighting 4 guys at once at least for me was an ugly affair.

Actually it reminded me of QTE's but without the prompts. Some of the combos were all over the place as far as buttons and ever the timing in between them. And they are the first thing you will forget when going back to the game i bet.

I really love Ultimate Spider-man, even with the crappy swinging and reduced city. I dug the presentation and storyline. They really need to use that framework and just expand on the gameplay on the upcoming comic based game.

Yeah, I really hope they don't fuck up the next game.

From the short previews it looks OK...but then again, so did SM3.

Seriously though, I loathe the whole "choice" aspect of the next game they seem to be focusing on. Here is the deal - Spider-Man is a hero. There is no choice between what he does, it's always the good one. He always saves a life, and never kills. Frankly, I don't need different storylines in Spider-Man game. Focus on the gameplay. Fuck the extra gimmicks.

Indeed, I like choice and customisation in my games but it doesn't belong in Spider-Man. Even under the influence of hte symbiote he got more reckless but not evil, more agressive though certainly. I want more missions to do instead of the same 6 fucking crimes over and over, more interiors, more random crimes, more unlockable costumes and a full rogue gallery story with recurring villains not just shitty one offs. No reason Rhino or Shocker can't keep turning up.

Spider-Man 2 is so many kinds of awesome I can't count them.

My dream Spidey game is Spider-Man 2 with updated graphics, more mission variety (damn balloons), and more life to the city. If you could go around stopping more random crimes, I'd never need another game ever again.

Unless they finally made an open-world Batman game. If they did I would literally die from excitement.

yal, that is the worst thing in a game to spoil

    EVER.

My friend an I both insist on that being the best in-game joke ever.

SM3 is awful. If you have the means to play SM2 it's far better... though the boss fights can be something of a pain. SM3 might be ok, but seriously if you can it would make no sense to go for it over 2.

Don't read unless you have played SM2 through.
A funny description of the Mysterio fight from a gameplay guide.

Okay, I'll admit it. I don't have a strategy for this. Why? Because
I'm not sure how I beat this guy myself. All I remember is a blurry
three hours, filled with many blisters, tears, and much pain... oh, the
    pain...

I cannot believe how evil someone would have to be to even think about
putting this guy in the game. You'll lose a part of your SOUL fighting
this guy; forget about the weeks trying to figure out how to beat him.

Well, when you start, his life bar, which is longer than normal, fills
up THREE times. Yep, THREE times. An omen of things to come. I tell
you, I've had nightmares... visions of that fishbowl head...

And he's taunting you all the while... that taunt... the echoing
voice... it tears through your heart... pierces your soul... I can't
bear to think of it... I get even more nightmares...

OH, MY GOSH, NO! NOOOOO!!!! THE NIGHTMARES... THEY'RE HAPPENING!
WHEN I'M AWAKE!!! I CAN SEE VISIONS OF THAT FISHBOWL HEAD... GETTING
SO CLOSE... NO, DON'T TOUCH ME! NOOOO! AAAAH! HELP!!!! I HEAR HIS
VOICE!!! IT'S IN MY HEAD! MY MIND!!!! MY MIIIIIIIIIIND!!!!! SOMEBODY
    HHEEEEEEELLLLLLPPPP!!!!! HEELP... H- H- HAHAHA...
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAHA!!!!

Sorry, I couldn't keep that up any longer without bursting into
    laughter.

If you haven't guessed by now, Mysterio is the EASIEST boss in the
game. Man, words cannot describe how EASY this guy is.

One, he DOES NOT attack. Yep, that's right, even normal crooks put up
    a better fight.

And two, ONE punch will defeat him. Just ONE. It will take out ALL
three of his life bars. One kick will do it, too. A shot of impact
webbing probably would, also. But the evil (and fun!) way is to sprint
    and then upper-cut him.

...seriously, did they switch development teams between the games? Where did all the heart and funny from SM2 dissappear? SM3 was so...soulless.

They should just make GTA4 into a spider-man game.

I'm 100% sure Rockstar could make the best Spider-Man game there ever was with a seemingly realistic world, amazing missions/characters and some awesome gameplay.

Also,Spider-Man would totally have an Ipod with a radio while swinging around.

If I happened to be a billionnaire, I would totally fund the perfect Spider-Man, Batman and Superman free-roaming games.

Seriously. 100 million dollars for the development of each game. Hire the best writers, programmers, artists, modelers...Of course, I get to have the final say in all things. For example, just mention the word "escort mission" and "time limit" in any other sentence then "no fucking escort missions or time limit in these games, ok?", and you get fired.

A man can dream, can't he?

Yeah, that one was awesome. Especially the way his spider-sense worked.

Although that would be pretty hard to code on a game.

They should just make a bigger, better Hulk: Ultimate Destruction...except have Spider-man (with SM2 swinging physics) as an extra playable character. Maybe throw in a flier like Human Torch or Iron Man as well. Oooh, and Nightcrawler for crazy acrobatics and awesome teleporting. Then make it multiplayer.
Then they may have my wallet and quite possibly several of my less vital organs.

To be fair, thats kind of Spider-Man's shtick.

The difference is if this guy has to get somewhere, he doesn't let him wander and follow behind, he picks his ass up and swings him over there and then goes about kicking ass while the guy does what he needs to do.

Why not just make "The Avengers: The Movie: The Game: The Sandbox: You Know You'll Buy It" at that point?
I bet with a little retooling any number of engines could handle switching avenger characters at save points or whatever, and maybe toss in a little co-op and deathmatch.
    What else would you need?

I think Superheros lend themselves perfectly to sandbox worlds. I dont even think they need to flesh them out more than GTA4.... Hell even Superman Returns did it for me. But the whole time i was flying around i kept imagining how cool it would be if i was SpiderMan...

What they should focus on is movement. Superheroes tend to have pretty unique ways of getting around, and if youre going to be traveling a huge environment they should really take time to polish however it is youll be doing it.
