I hate to make another one of these, but I have been needing a car for a while and I can't settle on one. I was looking at getting a car between $6,000 and $9,000. I was looking at mostly the Honda Civic and Accord. I don't need a fast car, although it would be nice but I don't want to go out of my way and pay $12,000 and end up with a fast car that is a piece of shit in every other way compared to a civic. I want something reliable since this will be my first car, and I also plan on keeping it for a while (five or so years maybe).
So with that, does anyone have any recommendations on a good car?

Everyone wants a car these days it seems, nothing wrong in making another thread.
Where are you located? Civics and Corollas are usually are the best bet for your price range anywhere, but of course Subarus and other AWD cars are preferred for snowy areas. Also look at Nissan Maximas from the 95-99 year range, and Mazda 626's.
Check out local the CarMax in the area, they should have "Value Max" cars which are high mileage used cars for under $10k. Most are Japanese vehicles. You may even find a non-asian car in that range like a Chevy Malibu for $10k with not that many miles on it, but don't get them; they are often fleet/rental vehicles on the verge of breaking down like a lot of late 90's American vehicles (this coming from someone who saw their parents '98 Buick LeSabre turn to shit after 70k miles this Spring).
You could also look at Auto Auctions in the area, you could find a nice car like a late 90's Camry there.
Ford Ranger pickups from the mid-90's are surprisingly durable as well. If you aren't carrying around more than 2 pepole, look for them.
I live in Louisianna but will be moving to Minnesota in about two years, although I don't think I will need an AWD car.
Nah, I drive a civic just fine and I used to live in northern minnesota. Just put some sandbags in the trunk of your car to keep the back from sliding :^:
I've actually also been looking for a car recently, in a similar price range to you. I personally like the look of some of the recent hatchbacks (Toyota Matrix, Pontiac Vibe, Ford Focus ZX5) and that's pretty much what I've been looking at. The Matrix is more than I want to spend typically, but the Vibe (which is mechanically the same as the Matrix) can be found in that price range, and the Focus certainly can. There are some other similar models that are more recent, but they definitely go out of my desired price range.
This is pretty much based entirely on the fact that I like the look (though I know several people with Matrix/Vibes that have nothing but good things to say about them). If I was looking more widely I'd probably be looking for something like a Civic or Corolla.

Really though, the Accords are nice, but those Civics are pretty damn hot too and they get better gas mileage.
I got a 4-cyl Accord and I am averaging about 26 MPG in mostly city driving.
Accords are roomier and have a nicer interior than the Civics, and that's about the only difference I think.
we also talk about other random shit and clown upon each other
