I was born into Windows 95 so I never got much exposure to the old DOS command lines.
So I'm wondering, what is the command line that sends a message out to all computers on the local network? A friend of mine once did it at school, message popped up on all the computers thanks to the huge network, he ended up banned from the computer lab for 'hacking'.

I never use it (I run Linux anyway), but the executable is called net. Sending a message would have you use "net send", followed by an UNC path or IP address and the message. I'm sure Google can help out with the rest.
EDIT: That's for Windows 2000 and later (possibly NT as well, but I never used NT).

I think it's net send. More stuff on it here and here. It isn't in Vista or Server 2008, though (presumably because of the abuse in school networks - quite common at the schools I went to).

EDIT: Bugger, beaten to it.
On Vista you can use "msg". It probably works on Server 2008, too. You can find the help info for it on Technet.

Thanks. Tried it out, didn't work, and I found out that MS has limited it to the Business edition of Vista (presumably, it's in Ultimate as well). The lame-fun-stealing bastards. *shakes fist*
