The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I've never played D&D but I'm really interested in trying it, especially since new (and apparently, more newb friendly) rules are coming or have already come out. What I'm looking for though is a group to join. I live in Toronto, Ontario. None of my friends are into tabletop gaming so I'm kind of at a loss at where to go in search of an existing group. My google powers are weak so I wonder if H/A has any leads on where to start looking.
Edit: I poked around on the Critical Failures forum but nothing really seemed to help there.

Well, try one of these places tomorrow for a start:
Well, I haven't played in a while, (since I was a kid really), and I am in Toronto. But for me it was basically a group of my friends, about 4 of us, who had gotten into it. One of my friends still plays now, and I can ask him where and who he still plays with and find out if it's a public group or more of a friends thing.
One thing I would suggest is finding a local comic/games shop that sells D&D books and stuff and ask someone who works there if they ever host games. I did this one time and it was a generally horrible experience of weird smelling guys who were like real life versions of the Simpson's Comic Book guy, and that soured me to the experience, but maybe you'll have more luck.

Hahaha well don't sell your suggestion too hard, you don't wanna get my hopes up. The only place I recall selling dnd stuff (which is not to say it's the only place that does, only the only place I've encountered) is the mind games at one of the malls. And the place looked a little too small to accomodate any games. But I'll keep this in mind if I ever run across a gaming store.

Damn, I had work that day and couldn't make it. Thanks anyway.
How do people usually get into dnd groups? Through friends? Just stumble upon them randomly?

The web presence isn't the best but usually the socials are usually well attended.
That's pretty tempting, thanks for the heads up.
