I'd also like a power supply recommendation. What's a good name to go with? It should be in the same price range as all this other stuff.

Any other comments or suggestions on this setup are also welcome ("It looks like you overspent on your processor, you won't see any benefit by going with a dual core and that motherboard" or "for only $10 more you can get this RAM that will integrate so much better with your setup" or something like that).

Don't go with an AMD. Intel's offerings are superior.

You shouldn't have any trouble with XP as far as I can see.

What are you using the computer for? If its for any video games you should wait, get a bit more money, and build somthing a tad newer.

AMD should be alright. Its a little slower, but its a little cheaper too.

With a rebate this ram is cheaper, and runs slightly better even if you give it 2.1v(it's what I use).

Also yeah, AMD processors right now are just plain inferior to the Intel CPUs. On the other hand, it looks like you're really not going for a performance computer as much as one that works, and AMD processors work.

As far as power supplies go i would run with the Thermaltake brand, im runnin a thermaltake 650watt and its pretty awesome. lots of connections and itll run two video cards and a high end processor with no problems. I paid about 100 bucks for it. Mostly for longevity as computers use more juice.

There are several good PSU brands, and several bad ones.

Good ones include, but not limited to: Antec, SeaSonic, Thermaltake, Corsair

Not too sure about bad ones, but XCLIO is definetely one of them in my experience.

Corsair and Antec make some very good PSU's.

Anything "No name" will be bad when it comes to a PSU.

The computer doesn't seem to want to recognize the SATA drive. I've got it running windows with an older IDE drive, and the sata drive shows up in device manager, but not under My Computer. I'm pretty sure I need to format the drive, but I forget how to do this.

Dont' buy an Antec PSU. I stopped buying Antec PSU's for people when I had the 5th one die, 5 died, different physical locations so I know it's not bad power. But 5 seperate deaths means I will never buy an antec psu again

I will say that the only reason I would ever recommend an AMD cpu is for a small, low power low cost PC, which this appears to be.

Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management

The entire drive should be marked as "Free Space". Right click, "New Primary/Logical Drive" and follow the wizard from there.
