Shrinking clothes

I bought some boxer briefs from wal mart and it turns out that they are a little too big and I can't return them. Is there any way to shrink them? They are 95% cotton 5% spandex and I have washed and dried them on the hottest setting several times already and they haven't shrunk enough. Is there anything left to do?

Don't waste too much money washing them and trying to shrink them :)

If the attempted shrinking didn't work....It looks like you might have yourself a new set of rags.

Fuck wal-mart, fascist bastards. Those things aren't cheap, well they were actually but still it was a waste of money.

Thats what I thought, I was pretty pissed because the receipt said I can return items within 90s days and then they pull that bullshit. Maybe it was just that wal mart?

Maybe they have a thing with returning underwear specifically? I dunno, I thought Walmart took most returns no questions asked (no receipt a lot of the time) too.

Most stores have a no-return policy on underwear, even Wal-Mart.. As an avid buyer of underwear, I do appreciate not wearing something that was returned.

    Ew.

That's what I figured at first... but then I was like "but... Wal-Mart."

well when something like underwear is returned its destroyed and they get the money back from the manufacturer. The only thing they normally will never take a return on is breast milk pumps.

    To shrink clothes, I:
Bring a pot of water to a raging boil
Submerge the clothing inside and cover with a lid
Leave inside water for a few hours, or until water is lukewarm
Put wet clothing through a washing cycle
Finally, dry the clothing on the hottest setting

This has worked for me in the past on numerous occasions

Um.. generally with most cotton clothing it's pre-shrunk and generally after normal wear and washing it will actually get bigger. Um.. with Wal-mart though I am pretty sure they don't do returns on opened underwear and swimsuits for sanitary reasons.

    Euw, returning underwear.

However, if you've only worn one pair out of the pack, you could be a nice person and donate the rest to a shelter. I'm sure a clean pair of underwear would mean a lot to someone out there.

Yep, me and LPs dad (and a team of people) give out about 50 pairs of boxers and socks to homeless guys on Friday nights in Manchester (and other stuff).
