What's going on here? I was told there would be sugar syrup.

Watched this yesterday and feel fairly meh about it. While I like the plot, it felt really slow getting started in a way that Futurama usually doesn't. Maybe I'll change my mind on rewatching it.

Bender's Game looks completely awesome and I can't wait for it to come out.

I liked this one a lot better than Bender's Big Score. I haven't watched BBS since it came out, but I plan to watch it again soon, after seeing this one.

I thought there were a lot more laugh out loud moments in the newer one, which pleases me more. The people I was watching it with are quite likely the biggest futurama fans I know and they thought that the new one was funnier, but that the first one really tied up a lot of loose ends and such.

Overall, I'm surprised to see so many people post that they didn't enjoy it, I thought it was very good.

I liked it better than BBS and about as much as an average ep of the series.

only one bit really fell flat for me:
    the nixon/charleston chew callback.
it was such a brilliant non sequitur in the original ep, but was just awkwardly jammed in mid-sentence here.
I cringed when it happened and it probably has ruined that moment in any future viewing of that ep for me

Pretty standard Futurama fare I think. This one was considerably more obvious in its 4-part pacing, which I think killed it a little as a 2-hour affair.

Yeah that bugged me as well.

BBS was obviously a movie that they broke into four parts. Beast is just four episodes they fused into a movie.

    I blame comedy central.

I actually preferred this to BBS, largely because BBS felt more like Fan Service and actually crapped on/retcon'd a couple of the series' more touching moments. This felt much more cohesive, much less predictable, and was more focused on being fun than just being "Sumin' for the fans." In short, BBS didn't feel like Futurama. This was closer - it's not there yet, but it's getting there.

I'm also concerned that people (and I may have said this already) are giving both films more praise than they're due simply because, hey, It's More Futurama. BBS is okay, BwaBB is better, but neither are as good as the series was.

    Oh god.

    Bender Jr.

    Awesome.

    I enjoyed it overall.

Does anyone else think the animation was much worse than BBS? Maybe it's just me but most of the animation looked really poor in this one.

Zapp wasn't funny which was a shame. They were trying way too hard with Zapp.

    Didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I wanted to. But there was one moment which made the whole film worth it. I laughed for a good few minutes at this and I have no idea why;
When Bender discovers the secret league of robots and breathes in the candle from gasping.

    I cheered when
Kif finally stood up to Zap and socked him for boning Amy.

I didn't notice nearly as much CGI stuffed in, even compared to the regular series. Though as far as the traditional animation goes it was as good as ever as far as I could tell

That episode is win just for Calculon, but yeah, it's probably one of the weakest.

I enjoyed both films. I didn't sit there comparing each joke to jokes from the other episodes, or questioning whether or not it was better than my favourite episode or whatever. I just watched it and laughed and enjoyed it. People would do well to appreciate things for what they are rather than obsessing about what they're not
