The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
The player's mind becomes the ultimate weapon in Psi-Ops, where stealth action and psychic abilities are combined to create the ultimate special missions operative. Nick Scryer, a talented American Psi-Operative uses an assortment of traditional weapons as well as his unique mind powers to stop a group of terrorists bent on creating global chaos. Strategically infiltrate seven levels within four major enemy compounds, while outsmarting challenging enemy AI and discovering multiple paths through non-linear missions. Use powerful psychic abilities such as telekinesis to move people and objects, pyrokinesis to project a wall of fire, mind-control, remote viewing, aura view and mind drain.
Now why should you download the game?
You can explode people's heads.
Mind control people and use them to kill other people or themselves.
Burn shit with your mind.
The game also has really good ragdoll effects for the time so throwing shit around is fun.
The first part is so epic. Then you start getting to badguys who just wont die, but I hung in there, but then you get to the part with monsters, and I was like "fuck this."
I think i spent more time in the training room than actually playing the main game
Me too. And that's not to say the game's bad, it's just that the training room is a literal sandbox of ragdoll joy. It's just so fun to dick around with powers in that so not having to worry about running out of power means it never gets old.
Awesome, I've been trying to hunt down a used console copy for awhile. This game was indeed a good time, and playing it for free makes it that much better to reminisce.
I loved this game, and always wondered why they never made a sequel. Did the whole 'olol physics' thing burn out that quickly?
Stranglehold went into development right after the game was finished.

One of the best games ever made, period. I spent hours in the training room just throwing bad guys around with telekinesis. Slamming them into the wall repeatedly until they died, then throwing their dead body at their friends was just so damned funny to me.

Man, it'd be great if someone took the mechanics of this game, refined them just slightly, came up with a great story, and designed some really good levels. It would be a truly incredible game.

Really. Never realized it took them that long.
Plus I seem to recall them getting sued for the story being so similar to something, or someting.
Well, it had the unfortunate timing of coming out at almost exactly the same time as Second Sight, but I don't recall them ever being sued over similarities. That kind of thing happens all the time (see: Dante's Peak/Volcano). The sad thing is both games were pretty interesting, but overlooked by the public at large.
So I was looking around at their other free games and I noticed that they had The White Chamber. I'd never heard of this game before but it's apparently an indie graphic adventure sci-fi/horror game with anime-style art and high production values for an indie title. Checked around and it seemed to get a bunch of good reviews on adventure game websites. Downloading now.
If you don't want to go through the FilePlanet lines, it's also available for free on the developer's website: http://www.studiotrophis.com/

It's pretty scary; I remember getting freaked out by it. But I have a notably low terror threshold.
Psi-Ops is rad, too. Pretty sure I never missed a chance to do the L3+R3 trick with mind control.

Is that the command that makes the victim commit suicide?
Crate surfing is pretty cool too. Stand on a crate and aim down at it. Pick it up with telekinesis and float around all you want.
edit: 50% done. Going to sleep and leaving the computer on for it to finish.

That's the one. And yeah, surfboard of doom was a fun trick as well.
Epicly fun game just to goof of with. The story is horrible and features my all-time least-favorite videogame cliche of forcing you to fight uninteresting enemies in dark places - yet the first 3/4 of the game is still fun and filled with pretty nifty sequences.
I love how the game subtly ensures that objects collide in the most horrific way - my favorite moment was when I tossed a guy and the game flung him straight up into a rafter with an exploding barrel on it, which he knocked loose a bit before falling back down to the ground. Just as he started getting up, the barrel fell on his head and exploded. Mythbusters-level hilarity...
My favorite things to do in the main game picking up a guy and dangling him over a cliff for a bit, watching him squirm before you simply let go.
Also, in the part where you're running through the particle accelerator, pick up a guy. Don't slam him into a wall or anything, just hold him in the air... and wait for the next pulse from the accelerator to come around and vaporize his helpless form and push his charred corpse around the room.

But the actual gameplay was sooooo fun.
edit: I never got past the crazy office building.
I am also interested in the answer to this
there is no reason not to get it
it's a fucking fantastic game
and the multiplayer lets one person control the psychic powers while the other person controls movement and guns.
Looks like I jumped the gun, and can download it on my non-paid account:D
Ads definitely won't bother me with this game. They'll make good target practice.
The game comes with ads or AIDS?
Important distinction.
Are they in game ads?
pfffft a couple of ads aren't that bad for a game thats free

This was the best part of the whole game. The story was just a tacked on bonus.
I never asked for this!
Everyone should get it.
Although I dunno how well the PC version turned out..
