Okay, so there's only three of them: Catan, Carcassone, and Lost Cities.
I've got all three, motherfuckers. And I know a ton of other people have at least one--Carcassone was fucking free so if you don't have it then shame on you.
Anybody want to play? I should be up for a game of any of these in about an hour, and in general I'm always up for any one of them.
I've got Catan and Carcassone, but I'm at work at the moment. However, I might be able to prise myself away from GTA later tonight if there's games going.
I've got the latter two and love them both. I'm always up for a game. Hell, no matter what else I'm playing, I almost always begin a game session with a quick round of Carcassone or Lost Cities. Play one or the other near daily.
My XBL name is the same as my screename, minus the numbers. Feel free to hit me up for a game any time you see me online.
Not at home now, though, so I can't take you on unil my work day is done.
Or I could just drive my ass the hour + to Chapel Hill with a real game board.... Naw, too fucking hot and gas costs too much. :P
Hey man, if you're not a weirdo loser in person you could come to "board game night" and throw down on some Arkham Horror or whatever the next time my buddy hosts one. He lives in Hillsboro.
As far as Lost Cities goes, I'm really hoping some people here bought the game. I tried the demo, was instantly hooked, bought the game within about 20 minutes. Since then I have literally been unable to find a match online.

This was my experience, too. Played one round to sort of get the hang of it, played the second round roughly knowing what I was doing, and bought it right after that. The game is wildly addicting.

Oh shit, I love me some Lovecraft. And I've been wanting to try Arkham Horror. Depending on my work schedule, I may give it a try.

The best part is, I don't feel like I'm missing anything playing it on the 360.
Part of the fun of playing a board game is the interaction with little mans and inventory cards and [/i] rolling dice[/i] and all that shit, but Lost Cities is so simple to begin with that I don't mind losing that at all.
I'm sure the fact that I've played both Carcassonne and Catan with physical copies of the game has something to do with this distinction, but I really feel like Lost Cities made the transition incredibly well.
Catan could really benefit from letting you design your own board layout. I was trying some new stuff last time I played it, and would love to work on something like that on the Arcade version.

Aw mang, the random nature of the board layout is the best thing about Catan. :P
I have all of them, plus Wits and Wagers which I include on the list because like the other three I've played it in real life at a board games night. I also can never, ever find opponents online.
I've got to go to work right away, but I was thinking we should setup a tournament or league for one of these.
See I always thought a league, which puts people in pairs and gives them a week to play a game and report back to them, would encourage that behavior more than this delightfully well intentioned thread that if history is any predictor will fall off the front page before anyone manages to play a game.
Fans of this genre are too spread apart, and need some concentration.
Add me for Wits & Wagers, too. That was another one I bought right away. I love me some trivia games and will scoop them up without a second thought. Absolutely down with jumping into a game or league or tourney or whatever.
(Scene-It is totally fun on the Xbox. I love those controllers. Great party game.)
I bought both Carcassone and Lost Cities and my few attempts to play online always ended in being connected - oops, no you're not really connected, sorry.

Oh, the random nature is good, but I mean just the actual shape of the board. I tried making one that had a mainland area at one end, then 3-tile islands scattered off elsewhere. It kind of worked, but needed some refinement.

If they let you do that by yourself then you wouldn't need to buy THE SEAFARERS OF CATAN EXPANSION AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE NOW
oh haha no no no, not for XBL, I just meant in general.
But shit. I'm surprised they haven't pumped out expansions for Catan yet. They fucking included The River expansion in Carcassonne, what's holding them back with the Catan stuff?
EDIT: on second thought, PLEASE NO, it's hard enough to find games already, fragmenting the tiny playerbase between who has expansions and who does not would be a total disaster
New to Live so still figuring out everything, but the board games were a big draw getting the xbox.
Kind of backwards, I guess.
Not at all. It was a huge draw for me as well, and as they add more and more of these games it solidifies the console's place as a favorite. My Arcade game to "real" game time is close to an equal split these days.
I'd really love for them to hook up with Days of Wonder. Memoir '44 or BattleLore or Ticket to Ride as an XBLA download? Hellz yes!

If nothing else, at least this thread will prove me with some people who own these games on my friends list.

Also, I just looked at your blog on a whim and, lo and behold, you're disappointed in the lack of players of these games too!
Count me in!

Based on the comments tho, I'll give Lost Cities a shot. I've been meaning to try it and Commander out for a while now.
Also, I want the fucking Catan expansions. Give me islands!

That said, I would love the expansions, having recently learned the Castles, Cities and Knights rules.
awesome I've added everybody in the thread

and naw dude, the XBLA content is a HUGE draw for the 360. Let me (attempt to) be the first to say GET GEOMETRY WARS
Yeah, played the demo the other day. I wish Wizards would import their new dndinsider software to XBLA so folks could play DnD with voice chat.
Or one, in the case of Lost Cities.
