"Can you see how dark it is over Terminal Phalla?" the chatter over the bases airspace was sullen. "You can see that... things outline from here. It just keeps getting larger." Captain Thorgot observed the data coming in from all the battle zones. Having Terminal Phalla fall had led to a sudden, and unprepared for promotion. "Excercising my authority as most senior member of command left standing, I now order the remote detonation of a full half of our remaining ordanance in Terminal Phalla. May god have mercy on our souls."
As the order was given, it started to rain. The Girl standing next to Thorgot looked out the forward view screen. "Look, no matter how dark it gets, the sun still shines. Look to the west, you can see a rainbow! We cannot give up hope!"
Thorgot looked up. "A rainbow? But the sun has gone down? How is a rainbow possible? dear god what evasive maneuvers!"
SPECTRUMCANNON!
After the smoke settled, Thorgot got up off the floor. "Report!"
"Engines, damaged. Weapons, damaged! Casulties all over the ship! Contact with Stew_Stick, lost! Tyler, lost! Clawshrimpy reports extreme damage! Everyone in airspace got hit sir!"
"The Angel stands before us! We cannot backdown now!" Roared Thorgot. "All remaining weapons, open fire!"
Over the Burning wreckage that was, a minute earlier, base airspace, Jpants threw the remains of his machine into action. "He saw through your disguise, and you killed him! Your conquest ends here!" he smashed into his target, only to stop. A golden sword stuck through the remains oh his units cockpit.
Over the bases outskirts, a number of Robots engaged the grunts. Standing in the middle, with a large smoking barrel, stood a vast multicoloured Robot. As more reports of the devastation it had unleashed in the Bases airspace flooded in, it could be seen almost smiling.
Over Terminal Phalla, the Lagann flew between the Phalliant and the Angel. It struck, and then fell to earth, its pilot reduced to goo. The Phallaint itself started to flood with the orange liquid, but it fought on.
And then the last of the invasion force arrived.

Well, if they are power rangers it kinda makes for a colorful scene, but it was called spectrum cannon and it could be baddies I dunno though.
