Getting posters printed

There are a couple of posters I'd like to get printed but I'm not sure where I would get this done. Kinko's would be the first place that springs to mind, but it seems expensive. The posters in question are available here. Anyone have any tips?

Kinkos or a local print shop is going to be the easiest method, especially if there end up being problems. Also you have to factor in shipping costs if you do it online.

How big are the posters? And how much is Kinkos going to charge?

Just thought I'd mention, check any local universities/colleges. Alot of them have their own print shops that are actually a good deal cheaper than other print shops. I work in one and we consistently beat the local Staples prices by 30 - 50%

This is true. Check in odd places at the university too, our VetMed school has an imaging lab with a 36 inch throw printer that's like $2.50 a foot or something. Ludicrously cheap.

It's 30 inches by 20 inches, two of them. They're color. Kinko's is saying about 50 dollars.

I've got a friend who runs the IT Helpdesk at a local Uni, and oddly enough used to work at the image/copy center there. I'll see what he can do for me as well.

If you don't mind a little patch job, when you go to print in Acrobat, choose Page Scaling -> Tile all pages. This will break the poster up into letter-size pages, which you can trim and tape together. I just did it myself, took a little time, but it was essentially free.

(Edit - Dunno if the reader does it, but I think it does. I'm running Acro Pro at work, which has the option.)

I don't believe it - I'm on my THIRD PS3, and my FIRST XBOX360. What the heck?

If it doesn't, Photoshop or GIMP could also be used to snip it into 8x11 segments manually.

UPS stores sometimes offer print services.

Ah I can have Acrobat split it up, it's working. I think I'll go with this solution first. If my boss doesn't like my tapejob (it will be in plain view in the office) than he will probably spring for the prints. Thanks guys.

That would seem about right for a high-street shop. We pay about £12 trade price at a digital press, which would work out at about $40. That said, I'd expect most print to be quite a bit cheaper in the US than in the UK. It might be worth tracking down a local digital press with a large format printer and seeing what sort of price they can give you if you need a more solid solution than the letter tiles. The quality will be at least as good and as they'll probably be running out of commercial premises on the outskirts of the city rather than a shop-front in the middle of town and used to dealing with commercial print buyers rather than of-the-street-suckers, they may be a bit cheaper.
