Discharged car battery

I just got back from a six week vacation and my car is dead. I figure this isn't quite normal, although the car alarm was on the whole time. What's a good way to recharge the battery? Should I be worried of fluid leakage or something similar?

Jump-start the car and let it run a bit; the alternator should charge the battery. If you turn it off and it dies almost immediately, you need a new battery. Ask me how I know!

There's nobody you can call? If you don't have a AAA membership, now's a good time to get one. Well worth it.

They also sell battery chargers that you plug into a wall outlet + connect it to the battery and leave it trickle charging for 8 hours or so.

Also, if you want to avoid having your car battery discharge during a long absence, just unplug it before you leave.

If you don't have AAA, and your existing insurance policy doesn't offer a tow/jump service, any towing company in your area can send a truck out - and they all are capable of jumping your vehicle.
