Second Life won't start

DouglasDangerDouglasDanger PennsylvaniaRegistered User regular
So my wife plays second life. It has worked fine for several months. Today, it stopped working. When she launches the program, a black window loads, and then it goes to not responding.

She has uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. Any idea what went wrong or how to fix it?

    This is a bad thing?

    Sorry, I kid, I kid.

Have you tried uninstalling, updating graphics and possibly other drivers (followed by reboot), then downloading the newest client install and installing that?

I see also that SL has certain graphics cards (especially built-in Intel graphics) that are not supported at all and are a crap-shoot if they work or not.

I'll see if I can find any updates for her graphics card-- nvidia geforce fx 5200.

i updated her graphics card drivers, restarted and it still won't work. i forgot to mention that it worked before I got her graphics card. i got her a graphics card for her birthday back in February and it worked fine until about 2200 yesterday.

i am wondering if maybe something in her registry is causing the problem. when i searched for the drivers, there was a link for uniblue registry booster or something, and it was free, so i scanned and it says something ridiculous like 500 registry problems. is that bullshit, or what?
