The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Tim Russert, NBC journalist and political heavyweight host of "Meet the Press," has died after collapsing at NBC's Washington news bureau, a source said. He was 58 years old.
According to CNN, he just came back from a vacation in Italy and just celebrated his son's graduation from Boston College. I may go to the library later and see if his books are available.
Wow, that sucks. I wonder what they will do with Meet the Press.
They'll hand it over to someone else. Meet the Press is the longest running program on television, period. It's become an institution. It'll be rough because Russert was actually relatively young and not even close to going out, so they're not prepared, but it will carry on. At least it better, if nothing more than out of respect for Russert...:(

Yea, looking at the Election thread people already hashed out the discussion that was going through my mind on that.
Still, this is really sad news. Russert was one of the few journalists able to deliver substantive interviews from politicians without resorting to stupid "Gotcha" questions. He will definitely be missed, RIP.
He may have just burned himself out working so hard with the campaign, moderating the debates, so forth. Truly a shame, because he actually gave a damn about reporting and argument, challenged his guests, and seemed a decent guy.
Yeah, I was at the doctor's office when I found out. I was kinda surprised about how many people were actually upset. I guess a lot more people enjoyed his shows than I thought.
Damn. That's all I can really say. well, that and, "that sucks". Meet the Press was the only reason for me to get out of bed on Sundays. Really going to miss him.
Very sad indeed. I loved his interviews because they didn't consist of softball questions or gotcha questions, and despite how cliche the phrase is, he was pretty damn fair and balanced.
It's sad to see anyone go like that, but even moreso when he was one of the best.

He was one of the few genuine newscasters left. He will really be missed.
Requiescant in Pace, Tim.
'Requiescant' is plural. I think you're looking for the singular, 'requiescat.'
This has been your neighborhood Latin Nazi.
And you'd think that my twenty-one years in the Catholic church would have taught me that.
You could also have said 'requiescas', which is 2nd person, as opposed to 'requiescat' which is 3rd person. But the 3rd person is probably an acceptable idiom (as in the English, "Tim: May he rest in peace.")

I'm a big fan of Meet the Press, he will be sorely missed.

Holy shit, I'm going to miss him.
What was the cause? Has anyone said yet?
Let's play Mario Kart or something...
That means they have this shit on tape.

I can remember watching Meet the Press with my dad on Sunday mornings when I was in middle school, back during the Clinton years.
Requiescat in Pace, Tim.

Dammit, I just realized this. Damn you superstitious nonsense!!
That's really disappointing. I didn't watch Meet the Press, but he did seem like one of the few newcasters on TV that really represented news well.
