Firstly, I would like to say, *takes the podium* Penny Arcade saved my life, and it was this game that started me back on the right path. I was a lost gamer for years, upset at the lack of quality that my 360 was giving me. Then, I read them all, and found the forums, and found ChromeHounds.
I love me some giant mecha, and this feeds every possible desire for uses of them I've had. I plan on going out tomorrow and finally hooking up my Xbox Live so that I can start playing there, and I'm hoping that I might be able to find some clan out there to take me under their wing.
If someone out there could help me though with one thing, how in the world are you supposed to assume range with the Heavy Artillery? I have the hardest times figuring out the distance. Best I can figure is that one grid is app. 300 feet. Anyone figured out a good way to do this? Please help.

Before the mission it tells you the size of the map. Divide that number by 10 to find out how big each grid space is. After a while you just kinda can tell by just looking at how far you're trying to shoot. Though I'm not sure how accurate I am after some of last nights games.

The size of the map squares varies. On the pre-launch screen, it should say how big the total board is. Take that number, and divide by 10, and you will get how big each square is. Use this number when estimating ranges in game, comparing markers on the board (bases, combas, hills, etc.) with your position on the map display. So if the board is 3000x3000, and the enemy is right next to combas A, and, looking at the map display, you are about 2 boxes away, aim at combas A for a range of about 600, then adjust from there based on where you hit/where the enemy has moved . . .
As far as squads go, I don't think any of the other squads have stepped up and represented, so I am going to yank them out of the second post. Give me a few minutes, and the squads listed there should be the currently active ones and you can try and coordinate with some one in one of them . . . .
*edit: Done. I left Washs Warriors since I thought I had seen them still somewhat active. If this is not the case, please let me know and I will yank them too . . . .
All right so I bought the game a couple weeks ago (before Tycho started talking about it) but none of my friends apparently felt like joining in the CH fun and I *really* didn't feel like joining some completely random squad blind and dealing with all the hax0r kids on too much sugar. SooOooo I just kind of f'd around, played some individual missions, etc.
THEN Tycho starts talking about it and I thought to come here and look around, voila! So I'm in Morskoj just 'cuz until last night when I (post war) moved to Tarakia thinking I'd try to apply to Arcadians 'cuz the 360 wiki says that's where they are. Only it failed to find 'em, I'm thinking they / you moved to Morskoj after the war (heh) and now I'm stuck in Tarakia until this war ends.
That was probably longer than it needed to be. Sooooo what squads are currently active and in Tarakia? And accepting n00bs? Anyone? 'elp!

The joining a squad thing can be a little funky to work with. To join a squad, you have to search on the squad name, exactly as it appears (case sensitive, spaces, etc.). When you do that, someone from the squad has to be in the main lobby at the time, for the squad to show up on the search (someone has to at least be playing online from the squad, but I'm pretty sure they have to be in the lobby as well for it to show up). Then, you have to request a place in the squad. Someone has to be in the main lobby to see and accept the request. Once they do, you are in. Keep in mind, there might be a password required when you request a spot in a squad, and this information should be included on the wiki pages for a squad. If not, anyone in the squad can go to the squad information section in game and find the password. So the best bet for getting into a squad is coordinating with someone from the squad to get all this done. . .
Everyone, please try and make sure that if you have a wiki page for your squad, that it has your current country, as well as an accurate, current member list, to make it easier to coordinate these activities . .

Yeah I read that note about someone needing to be online at the beginning of this thread but I wasn't sure if they'd patched that by now or not. I can't believe it's case sensitive, but thinking that might be the case I tried that too. I'll just try again tonight...

Well the Arcadians' wiki entry had been updated like the day before, it was just that the war had just ended so I feared they'd maybe JUST moved. Thanks Burn.
The second sniper mission would be awesome if I could see anything, specially the things I'm spose to kill. Is there some sort of night vision or something that I'm missing here?

We are currently Tarakian and I am about to purge our member list of inactives. The wiki is up to date except for the member list and I have a disclaimer about that. We have been on every night this week but we are currently full.

The AI should shoot up flares for you before they attack.
Otherwise that early no you won't have nightvision yet/
the morskoj super weapon was up sometime in the past? It's like the giant ww2 train cannon heh
That's news to me. I always thought a Morskoj super weapon was any mech with one of the larger Morskoj cockpits with extra armor; with as much damage as they take . . :P
So there was only one guy attacking it in that video then? It didn't really seem much of a threat to the player (probably because he was up high, away from most of the defenses), but it sure took a lot of punishment (so, I guess it is made out of the same stuff as their cockpits . . )
I like the idea of consolidating everyone that still plays into one clan. Since the Bacon'bots died it's been just me playing, I got my buddy playing now to and there is only one other guy that hops on once in a while.

While it's a good idea, I still don't think it's possible yet, as I think there's more than 20 active members spread throughout the current active squads. There should be room in the one of the active squads though, try getting into one of them. . .
If only they wouldn't have limited squad sizes to 20 . . . .

So those new parts available for purchase (I hate and love that you buy each one individually) are they, I don't know, worth the money? I don't think I'll be buying the WWII winter camo for .80$ but, hey, maybe a gun here or there would be worth the $1.20...maybe.
I think I shall attempt to play this game tonight if any fellow Arcadians are on...assuming I haven't been booted do to my love for Dead Rising overtaking my since of pride in whatever the hell nation we are now. :P

I'm a consumer whore, I had the points so I bought them.
I'll let you know. At the very least the generator is already used in 3 of my builds and allowed me to cut weight and be less overkill power... which allowed me to change some other parts. The double shot assault rifle LOOKS cool, but I'm not yet sure if it's worth much.
Do any of the clans play nightly/semi-nightly? I picked up the game last night. Took a few hours to get comfortable enough to start holding my own, but finally happened. Now I'm looking to get involved with a fairly mature clan. Might as well merge my love of PA with my mech.

EDIT: nevermind, the umpteenth volley of bombs did the job. This game is awesome.
Arcadians has :edit: 4 slots open first come first served. Pass is XXXY. If you don't see us in the list check to see if I am around and I will get you in.
(*it was really sad removing some of you from the list... anyone who hadn't been in chromehounds this month got removed.
So I apologize if you were removed you would like to get back in, try to do so before our slots are taken.)
So how is it possible to get the demo for this game? I'm in NA, so I need to set up a european region live account? That doable through the dashboard I take it?
