Anyone have any recommendations for an mp3 player that isn't an iPod? Specifically, I am looking for large capacity - 120gb or more (preferably as close to 200 as possible). Anytime I search for anything, those damn iPods come up.
Bulk isn't a big factor, but I'd like it to be smaller than my Cowon A2 (about the size of a PSP).
I'll settle for .mp3, but I prefer .wav or .ogg file formats, if possible.
also, if you googling, just look for(without quites) "160gb mp3 player -ipod"
the -ipod makes it so anything with the word "ipod" in it doesn't get returned. boolean baby!
and don't be a fucking nitwit about it either - what is your opposition to the 160GB iPod
because I'm telling you right now that it provides the best $:GB ratio out there, has relatively decent UI, is a good size/weight/battery life design, and has the best aftermarket support around.
Pheezer on
IT'S GOT ME REACHING IN MY POCKET IT'S GOT ME FORKING OVER CASH
CUZ THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE MIDDLE AND IT'S GIVING ME A RASH

There's nothing wrong with an iPod. They're great.
When I first went digital, I had the option to get a 60gb iPod for $249 or something or a 30gb Cowon A2, which has spoiled me.
It had extensive format support, built in radio, built in DMB (digital TV), built in speakers, the ability to record voice, off the radio, record tv, output anything to TV, on-the-go EQ, upmixing ...for about the same price (at the time). Not to mention it runs off linux so the open source support for it is exceptional. It pretty much blew me away.
I'm used to having a pretty capable little device in my pocket (It was comparable to an iPod touch at the time - pretty fucking sweet, but not enough space). I'd keep it, but 30gb doesn't cut it for me anymore. I've gotten to the point where I am willing to trade things like TV-out, recording, upmixing, format support, etc. for much more space.
Unfortunately, my whole library is .ogg, but I'd be willing to change to .mp3/.wav just so I can get all of my music on there. At this point, the iPod is looking like my only option unless I want a bulkier PMP like the Archos in my pocket, which I don't. A Cowon 160gb X5 would be my perfect device, but I don't think that's going to happen.
For some reason, Apple is the only one making HDD media players anymore (for the most part). I don't want a fucking 8gb, minimalistic flash device. I want to carry my music library around. The fact that my car has a 1/8 in jack built-in makes this even more important.

It ain't cheap, but it is 200GB.
Looks a bit big, too.

[edit] Here's the specs for the A3, pretty extensive - http://www.cowonamerica.com/products/cowon/a3/tech_specs.html
