My friend just dropped off his PS3 at my house and I would dearly love to play it. However, it doesn't seem to like my TV. I'm using the RCA(?) cables, the red-yellow-white ones, to plug into my tv and I'm not getting picture nor sound.
I can't tell if the sound cables are working because I'm not familiar with ps3, don't know if there's loading music or what not. My friend played this ps3 on an HD tv - is it possible that there's a setting on the ps3 for HD that must be switched to regular setting to display on my tv? If so, can I do this somehow without plugging into an hd tv somewhere?
also, the rca cables are brand new, and an xbox, cable box, and wii all work fine on the tv. help?
Wait... how did he have his plugged in? If he set the console settings to something like "HDMI" and 1080p it won't display because it's still looking for the HDMI cable. At least, that's how it was for my 360.

It's set to HD so you need to reset the video. Just hold your finger on the Power/Reset button for like 30 seconds or whatever. It'll beep once for the reset/power down, and then keep your finger on until it beeps again

It's more like five seconds, but this is exactly what you have to do.
