The family computer was pretty much as fucked as a computer can get. So my dad sends it off to this guy he knows who fixes computers.
Just got it back today, working fine until I go to start up Team Fortress 2...Error message saying something about not having good enough shaders on my video card (or something).
So i get a screwdriver out, open my computer. And the video card is gone. The son of a bitch computer repair card stole my video card.
I'd definitely tell your dad about that. OR, call the cops and report it stolen. Press charges on that son of a B.
Cops would probably not do anything - would say it is a civil not criminal matter if they are like the local types. Worth a try though, if you are sure.
I had a air pistol stolen in a similar way when I was a kid, salesperson's word against a 10 year old. I lost
Have you considered, oh I don't know, perhaps calling and asking about it? Because I imagine he made an honest mistake (probably took it out for whatever reason and forgot to replace it) and would be more than happy to return it. You shouldn't jump to conclusions like that, it makes you look like an idiot.
edit: beat'd
The parental units used to take our computer to a little computer/typewriter repair shop ten or eleven years ago.
Regardless of the problem, their solution was invariably to replace the motherboard and reinstall the operating system. This must've happened five different times. They still use the same shop unless I fix things for them.
But yeah. Call the guy up before you drop the hammer on him.
Yeah, are you left with onboard video or a different card altogether?
It would be rather amusing (and by amusing, I mean embarrassing) if it turns out that the video card is still there and the monitor was simply plugged into the onboard video.
My parents filled up their hard drive and the thing stopped booting into windows. They got someone they know to fix it, and I have no idea what all he ended up doing, but he somehow removed all permissions from every file in my dad's My Documents folder. Had to run a command prompt as the administrator to fix it.

Well he did say he opened up his computer and there was no videocard, so that would be rather odd.
It's been a full thirty minutes since the thread was posted. We demand updates and results!
Inevitable conclusion: "Oh hi, yeah sorry. I had to pull the card to get at a jumper and forgot to put it back. Was wondering which machine this thing went to."

You make it sound like there is nothing there.
e: Also, if this isn't a joke thread then it should probably go in H/A.

Instead of informing my parents or the authorities, I shall contact an internet message board just so everyone knows. Yay!
