I just got back from a job interview at the public defenders office.
Man, those guys just grill you about how you would feel about helping to defend wife beaters and child molesters. Like an hour of that. And every answer you give is just too abstract or not personal enough.
What are they looking for? Someone who feels superduper about it? "Yeah, I'd feel really great about helping child molesters get off - you see I was an alter boy at the local Catholic church. It's really a vocation for me at this point. I've always really looked up to those guys.
It would be such a cool job though. Crime scene investigator.
Having the ability to lie with a straight face (or being able to bring yourself to lie) is a requirement too.
But I'm not a lawyer!
Still, they need you to do your job professionally. They don't care whether you hang our with child molesters or shoot them. So long as you can present a mildly positive attitude about doing your job right despite the consequences, they shouldn't have a problem.
So, when they ask you how you feel about wife beaters, the guy who starts throwing shit around (or just raises his voice) will not get chosen, not when there is another guy who calmly states he's neutral about the topic.
Eventually, the guy that actually gets chosen by this method will either be an asshole or a good guy with a poker face able to put aside their emotions. It doesn't matter.
Such an empty life. Never to hear the sweet Heavy's voice decreeing dispenser placement. Never to spend the first five minutes of a round getting past flippy's head shots. Never to reach a stalemate at the end of a payload map, only to see a lone engineer waddle up to the cart and push it to victory, your head set filled with screams of bloody murder.
Lying or letting your clients lie is a good way to get disbarred.
He's not a lawyer.
Also, how naive. Maybe I'm cynical, but I thought it took way too much time and energy to get Jack Thompson disbarred.
Anyway, I'm not even telling anyone to lie in court or to ask their clients to lie. I'm just saying that the people who do interviews look for other things than just their CV and stuff. Those questions he mentioned could have been designed to gauge how well he responds.

I have, actually. :P I played TF2 with you guys for a while back when I first got the Orange Box. I've never been a fan of FPS multiplayer so it's really nothing against TF2. It's just a convenient target with so many fans of it on this board.
Tav you should include Meet the Sniper with this OP.
I was meaning to but then I didn't bother because I used the Steampowered tab to open Photobucket.
You put it in there now God dammit.

I don't like youtube's new "customize your homepage" thing, if only because there isn't any setting to keep it on the normal homepage instead of all the fancy shmancy needless stuff.
In my day everyone went to the same youtube page without personalized settings and by gosh we liked it or momma gave us a whippin'
Lying or letting your clients lie is a good way to get disbarred.
Only in court, and only if you know for a fact that your client is lying.
You are expected to lie for the benefit of your client outside of court.
How's that now
"Do you think your client is guilty?"
What's the context of that question? Who's asking it?
Do they mean a guilty person or guilty of the crime charged?
Why would any lawyer comment on that until after the case was over?

You are not the wizard.
Pretty good, actually.
Because I don't play TF2.
Pansy.
I would love it and pet it and call it Gim...

Dynagrip, how does it feel to be dead on the inside? I suppose feel isn't the correct word.
800x600 is no way to live!
:!:
You just have no soul.
I actually have that one bookmarked instead of xkcd.com

That is a terrible rebuttal. I mean, rickroll for fuck's sake.

That's right, my screen displays webpages and images one full-screen-size pixel at a time.

Is it bad that I hear the "you've been spotted" sound from MGS every time I see a lone exclamation point?
I should point out that I have never actually played any of those games.

How's that now
Then how do you know the sound? YouTube videos?
That being said, not everybody is going to like xkcd. There's a pretty good chance it's just not for you, Dyna.
That and Super Smash Bros.

Sheesh.
It was a large-dimension png file of a modern video game. Did you think it was going to be small?

Two can play at this game.
