I've entered the PAX Contest! I wanted to make this thread to thank you all for your collaborative help with this. The odds probably aren't great that I'll actually win it, but the fact that so many of you helped just to try and get me there was beyond awesome. I've never seen such friendliness from an online community. My wife and I appreciate it deeply!

If, by some miracle, I actually win it... you guys are getting some pub invites for sure. ;) Perhaps after the Pre-PAX Dinner we can all go for a round on me?

    there was a contest with puzzles to win a all paid trip to PAX, a bunch of us healped VT with the puzzles so he could possibly win a trip

    i just had a small question for you VT, when you signed up for an account, did they ask for personal info?

    becuase if not, we could all enter a couple thousand times with new e mails and just give them to you if one of us wins.

    no reason we cant stuff the ballot box

    I think fake emails is crossing the line to being unethical, but if people would sign up (once) just to hand the possible trip to VT, that's not a bad idea.

    if they dont ask our names and on e of us wins, we can just give the password to the email addres to VT and then it was like it was his the whole time

    Couldn't you just ask for cash instead of the trip to PAX and give it to him so he can fund the trip himself?

    Well, when I signed up for my account they didn't ask for anything other than my E-Mail address (which you have to verify), a new user name and password. I assume they'd ask you for more info if you won though... but to sign up, that's all they ask it seems.

    I don't know if it's crossing the line to do that though... I'm not sure. But that's the facts of the situation at least as far as "what it asks for".

    Thanks! Yeah, at one point I was going... then things got... complicated in terms of work and the possibility of moving, and I realized that I just couldn't afford it. =(

    Nay, nothing yet. I'd like to say that my rational side lets me know that the odds are overwhelmingly against... but I have to admit, I've been checking my E-Mail and spam folder (just in case it got there) pretty regularly since the contest ended... just in case. =)

    Their website says "We'll be contacting the winners and providing the solutions to all the puzzles over the next few days." So there's still hope!
