So my fiancee and I just got done with the second season of Jericho and loved it. But now I want more. So, are there any movies, tv shows, books, etc, that are along the same lines? I loved the post-apocalyptic stuff, the politics involved, everything. So help me out guys. Thanks.
Don't know if it's just like Jericho per say, but Carnivale definately deals with lots of politics, interesting characters and such. Plus since it takes place in the great depression, you even get the post apocalyptic stuff. Lots of people think it's really slow moving though, so I suggest netflix.
World War Z by Max Brooks. The audio book has an amazing cast. Instead of nuclear apocalypse it is a zombie based one. I can't wait for the movie adaptation of this.
The Day After and Threads are good nuclear war movies, although I wouldn't say there's much politics and stuff like that involved once the bombs explode. They do spiral down towards the whole no-hope-for-humanity thing, though.
The Day After is easily found on DVD, but Threads never got a US DVD release. It's available in its entirety on Google Video though:
Eureka is an awesome show and everyone who loves science fiction should watch it. It has absolutely nothing to do with post-apocalypse anything though.

re: six string samurai
Six string samurai is a great movie if you go into it realizing that it is completely awful and wrong wrong wrong.
You probably have seen Children of Men, but if you haven't, why the heck not?
That movie is the only movie whose setting actively terrified me. For bonus points you can pick up the book which revolves around an entirely different far more complex and political plot on the same basic premise.

A magician gives you a ring that, when worn, will let you see the world as it truly is.
However, the ring will never leave your finger, and you will be unable to ever describe to another living person what you see.
I also really enjoyed Jericho but if you want to watch something similar but maybe even better ?? You must check out Survivors! It's a post apocalyptic TV show based on a pandemic but it's really action packed and completely plausible it kinda scares me how very easily it could happen. Anyways check it out !

See also A boy and his dog, Mad Max, Escape from NY/LA, and Fallout series.
Finally, here is a list of post apocalyptic fiction. YMMV.

Even if you've already seen it, you should watch it again. I'm still picking up the little things and I've seen it probably 25 times now.
and Threads, but that shit gets pretty grim.
Also books like Dies The Fire, Last Light....
I got a list here somewhere.
