My house is sometimes noisy and I'm a pretty light sleeper, so I was thinking if I can sleep with earbuds in my ears for the night?
I'm not talking about earbud headphones, but those squishy yellow ones you see factory workers using to block out noise. Anyways, if I sleep for 9 hours with them blocking my ear canal, will there be any problems? Like not enough air or something lol, I dunno.
I've slept with earplugs for about 6 years now. I started when I was living in an apartment with some drug-addled neighbors who kept bad hours. The only complication is that I'm now so sensitive to sounds while sleeping that I have difficulty falling asleep without earplugs unless I'm in an almost dead-silent room.
I like this idea. What do you guys do about the whole "waking up" thing though? I should think it difficult to wake up if you can't hear an alarm.
I don't wear earplugs to sleep but 1) I am a heavy sleeper, and 2) I have an UNHOLY buildup of earwax (caused most through watching too many noisy punk bands) which means my ears are sometimes blocked after sleeping.
I find that using my mobile phone (cellphone) as my alarm works well as I put it on my wooden bedside table which vibrates right next to my head making a noise which seems just abrasive enough to wake me up.
I use earplugs as I'm ridiculously sensitive to repetitive noise when I try and sleep (ticking clocks, breathing/snoring from nearby sleepers).
Once the earplugs had forced ear wax down my canal and blocked my ear, which required irrigation at the doctors. Other than that, no problem.
Ear plugs drown out low frequency sound, but aren't as good with higher pitches. I have not had a problem hearing a buzzer as an alarm from an alarm clock, or using my mobile phone. You're in riskier waters with having a radio wake you, but it all depends on your sensitivity and what earplugs you're wearing.

also i recommend cleaning them monthly
Seconded. Anyone who's played in a band can tell you differences between cheap & expensive ear plugs are amazing. Find a good pair.
Where does one get a "good set"? I've just been using disposables.
