I just lost 5,000 dollars in student financial aid because I missed a deadline I didn't know about by eight days.
How have you lost money, SE? Have you ever been swindled by a car dealer, or mugged on the street? Have you gambled all of your money away? Did you buy a house sometime in the last 3 years?
when i got home from stale's party my brother told me a dude stole his credit card and started spending his money
he didn't have overdraft protection so until he clears up the fraud matter with police and the bank i had to give him a hundred bucks to get him outta that hole
and now i can't pay this bit of back taxes that's slowly becoming something to the effect of 1000 dollars

Alternatively, tell me about how poor you are
did you miss out on loan money or free money. big difference. I missed out on loan money for the last quarter and was still able to get by barely. it wasn't fun but I somehow got by.
edit: I hate banks too, and the government college loan program in Cali, not sure if its diff state to state.
also turns out i'm probably not getting the economic stimulus because as a college student even if i wasn't filed as a dependent, I could have been filed as a dependent and thus no stimulus check for me

Well a couple credit transactions took longer than they typically do to go through, so I sort of retardedly just kept spending according to the ATM balance the machines gave me rather than mah brain
I called up my friend last night to hang out as I haven't seen him in a while, like, months. He answers really rapidly and tells me he'll call back.
Minute later he calls back, saying he's sorry for not being able to hang out, because he lost a Poker game and walked out and now he has to "go hide somewhere." (his words)

I mean, I knew he was having some financial difficulty but Goddamn.

it seems more logical (and hells of more safe) to keep some sort of minimum balance in your bank account, so there's some reserve there if something weird does happen like that.
i've had it drilled into my head that saving money is important, though...

The best is when you get the overdraft charge and then they charge you for the overdraft charge
God fuck this
That shit is the worst
ya. the bank - "you don't have any money, so we're gonna take more of your money that isn't there because you don't have money." I understand they have to do something, but it still sucks.

[edit] you're probably right FF, but unfortunately I'm a lazy dependent who is terrible at managing money
i'm pretty horrible with my money too. but i mentally set a minimum balance in my head, so when i see my bank account nearing that limit, i automatically think "i have no money oh shi-" and curb my spending.
A couple of months back, I went to buy some milk from a corner shop, used the cash machine there to draw out £10, couple of days later over £700 in transactions in fucking tunisia had taken place putting £500 in debt and with none of my bills being paid. That was cool, yeah
I had to bail out my roommate financially a couple of months back when his car asploded. He ended up needing, like, $700 to get it fixed and had $23 to his name. Since I am good with money and he is terrible, I paid to get his car fixed. Honestly, I only did it because I didn't wanna chauffeur him around for three months while he scrounged the cash together.
I thought I was just plain out $700 because he is a schlub but he got his stimulus check earlier this week and I have informed him that he's paying rent by himself this month.
We have a mortgage so that drains most of our money, I got retrenched from my job a couple years ago though and got a payout so that has meant I could take some lower paying jobs that were necessary to get my career back on track.
Now I work for my Dad, and we're about to launch a new product which will hopefully start bringing in some cash so I can actually get paid a decent amount. Plus my wife is getting a promotion and a long overdue raise in the next couple of months, so that will be good too.
So this post is actually more about how I'm going to be making more soon rather than how I've lost money, sorry
I hardly ever put my money in my wallet. I'm always losing money by it falling out of my pockets. Worst I lost was $20. Overall, I'd say I lost about $200.
I paid for my boyfriend's half of our trip to Washington and he still hasn't paid me back. That was $1,400+ all the food and crap.
is this the same boyfriend who doesn't like Harrison Ford? or am i thinking of a different forumer?
Nope, that's the one. Although he did try to redeem himself by said he just says stuff like that to piss me off. Didn't help. I still wanted to punch him in the balls.

I'm not a narcissist. I simply like to watch myself exist.

Kinda tame reaction for someone not liking Han Solo.

completely paid off my credit card with money left over
Well it's sort of gay that they raised the overdraft fee
also turns out i'm probably not getting the economic stimulus because as a college student even if i wasn't filed as a dependent, I could have been filed as a dependent and thus no stimulus check for me
what the fuck is that shit
i paid my fucking taxes

i definitely understand being low on money. but how do you not keep track of how much of it there is in your bank?

I got a check for $900 the other day because I'm 1/8th aleut native alaskan and a member of their corporation.
I just collect dividends once a year.
It's pretty cool.
bummer man.

should invest in a few more mutual funds, expand the portfolio
