Trying to find a place to buy jeans unhemmed or in very tall sized (like 40 inch inseam). I don't need anything really fancy, but would prefer something made to sit on the hips rather than the waist (don't really want superhigh grandpa jeans), with straight or tapered legs.
I don't know where you live, but here in the South I've had good luck finding tall jeans at "Western" clothing stores and outlets. I'm 6'7" w/ a 38 inseam so I definitely feel your pain.
The problem with big and tall stores around here is that they are not big OR tall stores they are big AND tall stores. Its very hard to find just tall pants in those stores.
Also, my wife has been buying levi's jeans for me on the Internet...that has worked out well as long as you know before hand what will fit and what won't fit.
What the fuck? You misshapen beasts!! I have, like, a 12 inch inseam. I have to shop at Big n' Tall stores for... other reasons. That's not really true.
Noff, Big and Tall stores are certainly your best bet. You should be able to find what you need without too much hassle.
Depends on your location. Here in Winnipeg there's still a couple of stores that get all their stock unhemmed and include hemming in the purchase price.
Cabela's used to sell unhemmed jeans, they would measure you right there and get you set up right. I have not been there for over a year, but I hope they still do that.

38 inch inseam? That's impressive. I'm 6'5" and wear a 34 inseam.
