Question about uTorrent

So am pretty much a newb when it comes to torrents and stuff.

According to my utorrent display, i am currently only say 23% through a download with a long slow way to go. However when i go to the directory where the files are bing saved to, it would appear that all the files are of the appropriate size.

So whats going on, would i be safe to burn them to a disk and stop uTorrent or should i wait until everything is done?

Wait until they're done. From what I've seen uTorrent is basically reserving that disc space for the file you are downloading.

There should be a display for the torrent that says how much of each file in the torrent is finished. Once it's 100% for that file, it's safe to use.

You can allow the torrent to use more of your bandwidth to download quicker, though I'm not sure how much of an increase that gives. I just always do it. If you just wait for an hour or so, the speed usually picks up on its own...

When you're downloading do you get a yellow exclamation point on the bottom near the middle? Also theres a port and speed test settings options, I'm at work now so I don't remember exactly where they're at.

i do have the yellow exclamation point,

speed test came to 370kb/s with a 19kb/s upload

i followed the instructions to foward the port utorrent was using, but it didn't appear to work

If it's music or a movie or something that you're downloading (I'm not judging), if you open it then it will constantly skip and jump.

There's an option somewhere to set incomplete files to get the extension .!ut so you know which files are done and which aren't.

There's also a tab down the side called "completed" which has a list of all the torrents that are seeding when you click on it.

    Go to

Options -> Speed Guide -> Click Encrypt

Some ISPs limit torrents. This made my torrents literally quadruple in speed.

This will do nothing. ISPs that limit torrents can tell the difference.

Well it's doing something for me. Every time I uncheck it my speeds are significantly reduced.

His issue is port forwarding hence the yellow exclamation point. His router settings have to have the port forwarding set to his computer for the port utorrent is using, and his firewall settings have to allow an exception for that port.
