iTunes thinks my Touch is an iPhone

So, two problems really. First, when I tried to sync my iPod Touch, it made it seem like my music was data (Orange in the bar on iTunes), so I can't play it on my iPod and I can't sync my music because I don't have enough room to hold it twice. So when I tried to restore my iPod, I got an error. Downloaded the newest iTunes version, now it thinks my iPod is an iPhone and is downloading the iPhone software package. Help?
