I've been working on arranging VG music for solo piano. If I can possibly manage to get an opening act for next year, what songs would you guys like to hear arranged?
So far, my favorite composition (tentative title "Zeal") is medley of Undersea Palace, Battle with Magus, Schala's Theme, and Corridor's of Time (Zeal Island theme).
Other songs in my very flexible "queue" are "Prophecy" (tune while flying your dragon) from The Secret of Mana and "The Decisive Battle" (boss music) from FFVI/III. One song I'd love to do is "Time of the Dreamwatch" from Chrono Cross, but it seems to be a bit too dependent on drums for solo piano. Which brings me to my next point!
If any of you happen to be musicians in the Seattle area and are interested in forming a band (I also play bass), let me know!. I've been longing to play in a band that plays a bunch of game music, but most musicians just sort of look at me really weird if I ever bring up game music =P

Those are my choices.

Can we get the chemicals in. 'Cause anything's better than this.
I DESPERATELY would love to hear some Bubble Bobble toonskies, preferrably a unique take on them. I know, it isn't the hardest or most elaborately beautiful of songs, but you asked, and I answer.

Glad to hear I'm not the only fan of the CT music I'm only afraid that I might over-represent it if I ever do a show.
For Mega Man 2: I'll have to go dig my game up. As I remember, the Flashman and Dr. Wily stages were good. What were your favorites?
For Bubble Bobble: I'll have to find a copy of the game...I've never played it or heard any of the tracks. Is there a particular track you might be interested in?
I'll see what I can do for the Myst theme. The theme isn't terribly catchy, but you did say it'd be a challenge. Those piano arrangements by kLuTz are pretty damned cool and more than a little inspiring. I don't know if I'll be able to 100% accurately transcribe them, but I can certainly try! Thanks for the ideas ctishman!
As a joke, you should open the show by playing the Windows startup music, and finish it with the Shut-down music.
A Windows error sound and then just walk off the stage 5 minutes in.
That'd be great.
It's been a few years since I played my clarinet regularly, but I would be interested in the band thing, and I have expereince transcribing music from ear. I even made my own music sheets in Word. XD

You should play that song from Chrono Trigger that plays when Frog does that thing with the sword that cracks open the mountain. It is nothing short of incredible.
shadowklaw: Awesome! Lets hope we can find a few more people interested.
Windows startup is certainly possible, though right now it's kind of hard for me to get my ears around the synth part of it. I am kind of lost on what to do for a possible error sound...I think it's pretty reliant on synth, and the chord (well, two notes as far as I can discern) is kind of unrecognizable on piano =/ If there are any youtube videos of someone doing the error sound, I'd definitely be interested in seeing it.
For FFVI I was thinking about trying to do the boss theme, Dancing Mad (if I have the patience to deal with such a mammoth), or the Ending Theme (which is also long, but touches on most of themes throughout the game). As of now, I'm leaning towards the boss theme
thedough: When you are talking about Frog opening the mountain, is that from the PSX FMV or from in game? Either way I'm guessing it's just Frogs theme (or an orchestra arranged version if it's from the FMV). That could be really cool.
TheGeek: just the thought of doing Katamari Damacy arrangements makes me want to giggle like a little girl Reminds me of when my school orchestra learned the Totoro theme to play during their tour in Japan . Anyway, there is definitely some solo piano material there, but if we could get a drummer, a pianist/bassist (either), and maybe a guitarist, it'd be l33t beyond belief.
Thanks for all the great ideas guys, keep 'em coming!

There are only a couple tracks in it (the regular theme, which then speeds up when the ghost-fish arrives, and the E-X-T-E-N-D music), so they could even be combined.

The Myst theme
Just the main theme that starts about a minute into the track (listen here!), as the stuff that precedes it is pretty synth-specific, I think.
Also, for great piano arrangements (much of the work done for you! woot!) of ChronoTrigger music, check out the work of Greg Pak (link).

This website has the music from the game: http://taito.overclocked.org/bbobble.html
