The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
So is there debate and discourse here, or are you just trolling to pimp your site?
edit: It looks like a cult
Yes, because when you're on TED you really need to whore yourself out on some webcomic forum.
I think the guy has a terrible lisp, but his ideas on how we define ourself make sense. It's sometimes easier to define a community by what they consider themselves not to be than trying to define said community an sich. (see also: orientalism)
Anyway, this thread can go many ways, hopefully not the "bash the new guy till he packs up and leaves our glorious tree house"-direction.
Could someone, preferably the OP since it is his implied burden, give me the gist of this before I watch a 15 minute movie and then go load some huge app into my browser?
EDIT: Showin' how funky strong is your fight, just BEAT'D
What Yar said. This is potentially really cool, but we need some sort of description for what to expect.

I submitted an entry to Lego Ideas, and if 10,000 people support me, it'll be turned into an actual Lego set!If you'd like to see and support my submission, follow this link.
I don't know why, but being greeted by a big-red-and-empty-'cept-for-text heart that takes up half of the screen is slightly creepy. For me, at least.
So, what exactly is that? Some kind of data display concerning feelings? Something like "80% angst in Western regions"? I'm a little confused here.
It's a database that collects all information on feelings posted in the blogosphere and presents it in fun-to-play-around-with diagrams etc. You can get a lot of information about what feelings people describe, but it seems to be mostly fun to see what the hell people ramble on about in life.

It's also cool in that you can limit it based on various criteria. Wanna see what 0-10 year old girls living in Iowa are thinking? You can do that. Also, you're really creepy seriously what the fuck is wrong with you.

I'm more interesting in knowing how it tracks 0 year old's feelings.

What he said basically ...
The coded an engine, which searches the net for key words/feelings (so far only in english). They collect the data and you have a couple of ways to display them. The application shows the sentence in which the key word is used and you have the possibility to click on it and get to the source post of the sentence.
Sometimes you come away with really strange posts, but mostly its real people blogging about their live. I just find it fascinating what you can find out about the blogoshpere and get a glimpse into other peoples lives.

I'm trying to think if practical uses, now. How would a (social) scientist use all this information?

It annoys me when people say things like "I feel that everyone should know the truth about the meat packing industry" (or whatever) when that really isn't a feeling.

Anyway this thing is kinda neat but I'm not sure that I'll ever use it again.
Join the army they said.
See the world they said.
I'd rather be sailing.
the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
Also, I didn't mean to come off as harsh as I did, and I apologize bigeasy, for the record.
the OP originally consisted of "hey, this link is cool, and so is this one, check them out!" which 99% of the time is spam.
sorry again.
