Middle East history buff needed!

Ive got a friend designing a festival costume for me, and Im having a hard time finding an name or image of it
Its a middle eastern warrior, usually bald, carrying a scimitar, wears a red or black cummerbund looking thing around his waist, baggy pants and is bare chested.

Anyone got a clue what Im talking about here?

    Turkish Janissaries or Egyptian Mamluks had an appearence similar to what you describe.

    Google their images or wiki them to learn more.
