I searched and couldn't find anything, so hopefully this hasn't been asked before. Back when I lived with my parents I started a gamertag and played some games on my dad's 360. A little time ago, I got some extra cash and bought a 360 of my own. Recently I visited my father and he gave me a memory card with my gamertag on it as well as all of my old save files and DLC I had purchased on his 360. Neat.
I go home and load my tag and saves on my 360. Now, for the longest while, the 360 has been a Rock Band machine to me, so I never tried playing any old games. Today I decided to pull out Bioshock and pick up where I left off
I just killed Dr. Steinman.
. I go to load my save and I get the message "Failed to load saved game. The downloadable content required by this game is missing." Now I have the extra plasmid pack on my HDD, so why can't I load my save? My wife said the same thing happened to her Oblivion save, even though we have the Thieves' Den and Wizard's Tower on the hard drive.
If not, the content is locked away because when you bought it, it unlocked itself to your dad's 360, not your memory card.
So unless you get online -with the gamertag that bought the content-, the game basically can't see it.
If you still have the gamertag that bought the content, you can go to Xbox.com and use the new transfer tool to move the content over to being licensed to your new 360.
