The Wild Chicks ("Die wilden Hühner") is a series of children's and youth books written by Cornelia Funke. The main protagonists are four (later five) girls, who go to class together and form the eponymous "Wild Chicks" girl gang. Five books were published between 1993 and 2003, which have sold over one million copies in Germany. Two feature-length film adaptations have been released.

This looks like an instant classic. I know I have always wanted a DS adaptation of a German kids book series, and now the talented devs at Pixelknight have delivered on it.

I headed to the developers web site, hoping to find more information on future releases, and was sadly greeted with this message:
We are sorry to inform you that Pixelknights has been put out of business. We thank you for your interest.

Perhaps they can hook up with Sega/Platinum games. If not, then we should collectively pour one out for Pixelknights, we hardly knew ye.

Cornelia Funke is actually a decent writer, oddly enough.
    She wrote Inkheart.
