Flash Library Export

Am I just retarded? Or is it Flash?

I have an FLA file. In the library I have 20 bitmaps that I need to bring into Photoshop, optimize, and then re-import. afaik, the only way to do this is place the bitmap on the stage, copy it, then go into Photoshop and paste it into a new document, resize, and then make my edit; one at a time.

I refuse to believe this is how I am meant to do this. This is terrible. I mean, it's not unbearable, but I would much rather just use a batch process.

I can't simply click-and-drag library items out to my desktop, there doesn't appear to be any kind of Export Library Items option anywhere.... do I just need to suck it up and do it the long way? I'm using Flash CS3 on OS X (10.5)

...don't you have the library items outside of the flash file?
I refuse to believe this is how I am meant to do this.

It's not, you're SUPPOSED to have the original source files yourself. Keeping them inside of the FLA isn't exactly an industry standard practice.

Regardless, once you've updated them in photoshop, if they're already placed in the flash file, I can give you one tip for reimporting, right click an item in the library, hit properties, and there'll be an option in a dialog that pops up for re-importing. That'll swap your new version right in where your old version was without having to do any re-placing.

edit: Wait, you're in OSX? Can't you just use automator or robot or whatever it's called? The Mac macro thing?

The library is a one way street, the only thing you can do is print-screen.

You *might* be able to just drag the bitmap object from the stage into Photoshop but that's a long shot.

Note I said Bitmap, not Graphic.
