Saw that last night, shame it's pre-rendered but I love that there's no sign of anything supernatural, no zombies or monsters or ghosts or spirits. I'm keeping everything crossed that it will be a case of surviving an earthquake-demolished Chicago, rather than anything silly beyond that.
It's a disaster game.
Very likely it'll end with terrorists or aliens or something.
I like the evil accountants actually,I hope they stay with them.
The final boss is...
Fixed.
I was just thinking a post apocalyptic Office Space would be awesome.

Just now?
That's been a dream of mine since the movie ended!
Looking at the I Am Alive trailer, the way the Earthquake happens makes me think its less of an Earthquake and something more along the lines of something big is moving under there. I've never seen an earthquake in person but I don't think they race down streets in perfectly straight lines do they?
Ya know, Big Des, the plot is probably going to go in that direction - that some living thing underground caused the "earthquake". Maybe the title of the game has a double meaning: "I Am Alive" as in the protagonist has survived and "I Am Alive" as whatever creature was underground has come to life.
But what the hell am I talking about? Blind speculation is fun.

I just want a PvsE game like SOS/Disaster Report. If they can mix that up with humans struggling for survival and turning on you (Not elite soldiers sent in by shady corp LTD.) i will buy.

Well...In the middle of the trailer, when it switches to "Six Days Earlier", there's a billboard under the train for "www.ruaumoko.com". Googling ruaumoko shows that 'Ruaumoko' is the god of earthquakes/volcanoes and brings up some New Zealand MASSIVE earthquake preparedness exercise. So...it could be gods...it could be monsters...could just be a giant earthquake or earthquake caused by a giant volcano. We'll see.
There wasn't a site at ruaumoko.com, but now there is and it just points to iamalivegame.com.

Can we get the chemicals in. 'Cause anything's better than this.

I'm liking the concept for 'I Am Alive'. I like the idea of the enemies being not soldiers or monsters but normal people forced to do horrible things to survive.
So I played I Am Alive this past week and I couldn't wait to find out what folks were saying about it on PA - but here I am, there doesn't seem to be another thread dedicated to the game and no one's posted here since 2008.
Doubleyou tee eff.
Honestly - no one else feels this is the most interesting thing to happen to the survival / survival horror genre in over a half-decade?

There was a bit of talk about it on the XBLA thread. Didn't even know this thread existed.
I liked it enough to play through it twice, and get all the achievements. I feel like every complaint I had about the game could've been fixed by changing a few numbers. Still, I think everyone should give it a try.
I watched a Let's Play of it and it didn't look good. I mean, the protagonists main motivation is wrapped up in the opening few minutes, then it's fetch quest and linear exploration galore. Woo...hoo?
i enjoyed it, it's an interesting take on a survival game. the stamina bar is a neat concept, but it can make climbing hard to do sometimes. combat is fun, there is a slight learning curve but once you know how to react you can handle most any situation (or run away).
i'm glad you get the gas mask early on, the mechanic where it drains your stamina to be in the smog was cool at first but quickly became annoying.
what is cool is how the game forces you to find alternative paths. the map you have will start out normal, but as you discover new areas the map changes to account for damage in the city. you document the new paths and then can navigate back again easily.
i like that the fetch quests are mostly optional, they do reward you with another continue if you do save people in need of help though. i often ended up finding the item i needed but being too lazy to backtrack to the person (or sometimes i'd go back and they'd be dead...)

Watching a Let's Play of it, I like some of the style and gameplay mechanics (especially the NPC types and their interactions with the player), and feel that if a less linear game employed them in a less clunky way, it would make for an exceptional post apocalyptic experience. As it stands, it seems entertaining enough to play through once and I'm enjoying watching it.
I felt very, very positive about the game. It's not a title I'll need to replay incessantly, but it felt like a breath of fresh air for the survival horror genre - something it sorely needed on consoles.

Oh hell I smell an ARG a brewin'.
I have it for PC with mouse-look shooting and better graphics so I dunno about the console versions.
Fuckin Nintendo. Where's Day of Crisis?
Shhhh, don't say things like that! Gunther might hear you...
