broken electric razor

The razor is a braun activator 8585. I looked on Braun's website for the manual because I can't find mine and lucky for me the english version for my exact razor is the only one they have a missing file for.

Anyway. Basically I cleaned the razor and then it started acting funny. I would turn it on and there would be a long delay before the device actually turned itself on. After that I noticed the battery was almost dead so I hooked it up to the charger. I heard it make some sort of hissing sound and it has not worked since. Is it possible to get this thing fixed without buying a new one? I only ask because these things are friggin expensive.

I've tried shaving in the mean time with a regular razor and it is the most painful thing in the world. It doesn't cut my skin but it just yanks the hair out of my face and fuck does it hurt. I haven't shaved in over a week and I look like a cross between grisly adams, a homeless guy, and a child molester. Not a good combination if you ask me.

It took me a long time to be able to shave with a regular razor after my electric died. I know the feeling you're talking about. I can say, however, that the more you do it, the less you notice the uncomfortable feeling, as long as the hair isn't so long. Also, make sure you're not using a dull razor.

Now for the bad news. You're electric razor is probably dead. Unless it has a replaceable battery (and I doubt it does), it ould probably cost about as much to buy a new one as to have it repaired. Either bite the bullet and buy another one, or learn to live with uncomfortable shaving with a striaght razor.

One a the bright side, shaving with a straight razor actually gies you a closer shave (if you do it right) that will last longer than shaving with an electric.

If you need to buy yourself a new one, justify it this way--it'll still be cheaper in the long run than Gillette cartridges for a year. And a new electric shaver will last much longer than a year.

Indeed. Mine lasted about 2-3 years before my dumbass knocked it off the counter and broke it. I got a panasonic one if that makes a difference.

Well balls. I was really hoping to avoid wasting $100. And I honestly do not know if I could go back to using a regular razor. Well thanks guys I suppose we can lock this one up.
