T-Mobile text msg price hike

I'm looking to rid myself of T-mobile and join the ranks of iPhone owners. To my dismay, I have 11 months left on my contract. I've gone the route of trading contract or just letting someone take over, but it's been a nightmare balancing that AND keeping my numbers (family plan). I don't want to pay the ETF if I don't have to.

July 1, 2008: T-mobile is sending out inserts into bills stating as of Aug. 29, per-text prices are going up from $.15 to $.20. This means contract change and therefore no ETF. Apparently however, I read today this only applies to those without a text plan, which I have. So I'm wondering if anyone has received this insert (maybe even scan it or find a picture of it) and if I can just tell T-mobile I got the insert and use that as leverage to weasel my way out?

Any ideas brighter than mine? Bring'em on.

I'm pretty sure if you complain enough to customer support they'll let you cancel without the ETF aswell. Just mention how it is still a change in contract that might one day affect you.
    Or lie. That works too.

Get an older iPhone and set it up for T-mobile. ATT's plans are pricey.

This. Buy a first gen iPhone, unlock that bitch for any carrier and be a happy enough dude for the next 11 months. Then think about going to someone else if you want.

I would, but amazingly, 1st gen iPhones have increased in price on eBay and craig's list since the 3G's release. I'd rather pay less and get into a contract with a phone I know i'd like. Also, no 3G for T-Mobile.

Have you priced the rate plans? Trust me, really comparing the costs will make ATT a lot less attractive. And I'm not a fan of a company that charges a monthly fee for tethering.

I'm getting the hard-line about the ETF waiver. If you have a txt message bundle, you must have gone over your message quota within the last 3 billing cycles. And damnit if the last time I went over was 4 months ago! Now my wife is trying to call, maybe she's more persuasive than I am.
