[GORGE ON] Major League Eating The Game: All the fun, none of the indigestion

So, as I glance up to my TV screen upon shutting off the game I was playing, I notice that ESPN is re-airing the hot dog eating contest from July 4th. Not too shocking, since ESPN always re-airs events that occur on its channel recently at around 3 in the morning. But while going to shut this off, the announcer was bumping the advertisers of the contest...one of which was this game. Exclusively for Wiiware.

That's right. Competitive eating with the Wiimote. What will they think of next?

Now, to me, the best idea for this game would be to have the player(s) stand on the balance board and eat. The person who gets the fattest during this time, wins. However, according to the trailer, and screen shots, that's not exactly how it works.

According to IGN, Solo mode is somewhat like a fighting game, however instead of beating your opponent senseless, you use your Wii remote (sans nunchuk) to eat as much food as possible. It has 12 unique characters, and if the trailer isn't lies, you face off against real competitive eating champions such as Kobayashi.

The controls are basic, but timing and balancing are key, because if you fill up your barf meter, you can expect to see all of the fruits of your labor go to spoil. Also, again this is from looking at the trailer, there are powerups you can use to help you and hinder your opponent. One involves shimmying from side to side as a white light circles your body. One such powerup, and I'm not kidding, involves burping in your opponent's face. In fact, there's a whole minigame based off of this particular aspect of the game, "Burp off".

But, enough blathering from me, let's see them screen shots (and that trailer).

Trailer

This game does not support Miis, or WiiConnect24. Its release date is listed as TBA, and no idea how many points it will cost.

It should be noted that this game is being developed by Mastiff. So, if you're wondering why Top Gun DS or La Pucelle Tactics aren't out yet, look no further.
