A World of Warcraft somewhat related question, but it could apply elsewhere, too.
I've finally joined a raiding guild in WoW (no, I'm not addicted; I can stop anytime I want to, I just don't want to :P) and figure that I should set myself up for voice chat. However, I don't have a headset or mic. Can anyone recommend a good one (including usable and non-buggy software/drivers, if required for use) that is also not terribly expensive? FYI, I'm running on a two-year-old Dell Inspiron E1705 laptop (no desktop) with all the bells and whistles, if that matters.
I've used both of the headsets above from Logitech while raiding in my WoW guild. I really really like the USB headsets, although other people might disagree that they are good.
Its just so easy to take the USB headset and plug it into another computer if needed, especially if it doesn't have a sound card.
I'm currently using the top one, and I wouldn't trade it in for a regular 8th inch headset for anything.
I can't speak too much about headsets, but I can tell you what I did when I was WoWing and raiding. Instead of wearing a headset, I decided to get nice headphones and a desktop mic. The mic just sat next to my monitor and allowed me to speak in a normal voice. This way, if I didn't wish to wear a headset for the hours of raiding, it was far more comfortable.
I use headsets for entirely different reasons than WoW, but I can say that the most consistently comfortable headset I've ever worn is the Creative Fatal1ty Pro - however, I found it for ~40$ including shipping some time ago, which is about half off (maybe less?) as far as I'm aware.

This one worked smashingly.
