What happened to Wipeout HD?

dodosdodos Registered User regular
edited July 2008 in Games and Technology
Wasn't this game supposed to be released this summer? How come it hasn't even been mentioned in ANY of the E3 news thus far? Has the entire project been cancelled?

Any further information about this game I really looked forward to would be helpful, thanks.

Haven't heard anything about it. All of the places I've checked don't mention a release date. The only place that does is 1up.com, and they mention that it should be out by tomorrow. But I think that they are wrong, since no other source or site has a release date of any kind.

On the bright side, the official Wipeout HD site is still up. So that lends some hope to the notion that it will still come out, but when that happens, nobody knows for sure.

Lead designer of Wipeout HD said it hasn't been sent to sony yet (97% complete) as they wanted to make a few changes first...pretty disappointing that there was no mention of it yet.

    edit: here's the post:
The game was 99% done, however for various reasons its now more like 97%
So how does something go from being 99% done to 97% done, well we were waiting on the final 1% which was out of our hands and we decided to make some small tweaks and the like. Is it worth it, well in my eyes yes and I know there are people on here that will be happy, can I tell you what we did or are doing, no, not yet I'm afraid. Will you notice, yes.
Its like the xfiles isnt it

I dont mean to be secretive but I'm just not allowed to reveal details, suffice to say I think you will say (down the line) aaaah you delayed it because of that, ok, cool.
But right now its not my remit to say.

They probably just wanted to add Trophies or something. (The secret reason it went from 99% to 97%)

Let me tell you about Demon's Souls....
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

Thats definitely why they would do that. God I just want one game on the PSN that you can jump into, GTA4 just doesn't excite me.

I just watched the GameTrailers review of it and it definitely seems enticing. I wonder why I brushed it off for so long without even giving it a chance...

On that note, does anyone know when the Warhawk (and the rest of the) Greatest Hits for the Playstation 3 will be available?

It's been so long since I've posted here, I've removed my signature since most of what I had here were broken links. Shows over, you can carry on to the next post.

The WipeoutHD site is so awesome... and that's just the website! I love the graphic design. Does anyone know if they are still working with the Designer's Republic?

Well, definitely looking forward to the release. I'll have to get my fix by playing my imported copy of Pulse for now.

Honestly the game is already bargain priced. I only paid 40 dollars to download the basic game when it came out. I guess they made it so cheap cause they never could get the AI to do everything well and scraped the single player. I still tear up when I see the early work on it.

But still to this day I'd have to say this game and unreal 2k4 will always be fighting it out for which is my favorite online shooter.

Edit: And now back on topic yes I too am eagerly awaiting this game and catapulting into first after a well timed quake attack.

    I like both!

F-Zero is good fun but the design, music, etc. in Wipeout fits my tastes significantly better. The combination of kick-ass graphic design, music, and solid gameplay is awesome. I can understand if other people like Captain Falcon and Samurai Goro more though I personally don't.
