I'm really starting to wish I could get hard copies of some of these awesome WiiWare games. Those aren't great graphics but I'll still pick this one up.

Wazzit? A remake? An entirely new game? Inquiring minds would like to know.

That picture is from PSX's Gradius Gaiden, I think.
Yeah, the caption seems to say it's from Gradius Rebirth. Main text also says something about Summer 2008, hm hmm...
WiiWare is certainly picking up steam. Now if Nintendo would only remember not to neglect Virtual Console while there are still plenty of good games yet to be released...
This will be at a disadvantage compared to Gradius V (unless they got Treasure to develop this one too, which I doubt), but this is nontheless decent enough news.

Everytime I contemplate selling my Wii I have to read some shit like this.
Buying and selling consoles is pretty pointless, as you will only lose money on progress. If you aren't in dire need of money, it isn't really worth of your time, as there is always sooner or later stuff you want to play.
Why is this looking worse than Gradius V? Granted it's only 1 screenshot but we're supposed to be moving forward, not backward.
40 MB max filesize. Then there is fact that it is very hard to get proper funding for Gradius. It is even more niche than Castlevania. We should be grateful that we even see new one.
You know, I don't think I've ever completed a Gradius game. I thought I did, but that was Life Force on the NES. It's pretty much the same thing, but it's not called Gradius.
I own Gradius V, but I've not made it further than level 3. That jerk keeps telling me I "need more practice."

Damn, how many scrolling shooters does the Wii really need? This is getting out of hand. The Virtual Console has been flooded with them, and now they're starting to take over WiiWare. Fuck, they even have scrolling shooter games inside other games.

I see no problem here.

Maybe if they released more than 1 VC game per week, I wouldn't mind that 1/2 of them were scrolling shooters. Its getting a bit ridiculous.

So Life Force and Gradius II are completely different games, or what?

Gradius 2 and Life Force are different games. But Life Force is rightfully considered a Gradius game.
Gradius 2 received an MSX release in the west under the name Nemesis, but the game itself was nothing like the original Gradius 2 arcade despite being brought over from the MSX release of Gradius 2. Gradius 2 arcade finally recieved a port for the PSP Gradius Collection in the west, and was properly named Gradius 2 there.
Life Force was merely marketed as the sequel to Gradius, but it was not the "actual" sequel Gradius 2. Gradius 2 never came here except as Nemesis on the MSX (but wasn't the 'real' gradius 2) until a proper Gradius 2 (arcade) came out on the PSP.
So everyone thought Life Force was Gradius 2; it was marketed as such. But Life Force was actually started out as a game called Salamander, which is what its name iirc is called in Japan. Salamander is a game, where you still play as Vic Viper and what not with Options and upgrades, but Gradius 2 came out afterwards and borrowed some elements from Salamander (Life Force).
It's confusing, but basically in short, Life Force and Gradius 2 are different games.

There's no such thing as too many scrolling shooters.

EDIT: Nevermind. It's screenshot for the game.

I have often wondered that was Gradius originally meant to be Gladius. Knowing how often japanese mix R and L, it doesn't sound too farfetched.
Treasure has two Wii project underway.

Well, I have a band and need to buy a new instrument and enclosure.
I also own a record label.
And Wii's still go for MSRP on eBay.
:-P
Lots of reasons to part with it.
I'm coming off my Saturn collection and Panzer Dragoon Saga for a hefty penny as well.
