So, I was at a bar last night talking to a girl and she asked me what, at the time, I thought was a pretty strange question. She asked me what magazines I subscribed to, and when I asked her why she said it was a good way to get a sense of my likes and dislikes. I thought it was wierd but then later when I was thinking about it it sorta made sense. So, do any of you SE folks subscribe to magazines, or is print journalism dead? I myself subscribe to Details, The Atlantic, Wired, Geek, GQ, National Geographic, Wizard and Daily Variety. Im not sure that tells you anything about me other than I'm a dork, but hey.
I didn't even know what the fuck and avitar was until about 5 minutes ago.
I get Game Informer for the ebgames edge card or whatever. I like to read sports illustrated while at the gym. I occasionally buy issues of Giant Robo when I'm at borders and a new issue is out. i flip through popular mechanics whenever i'm at the barber shop.
I get Popular Science, but lately there hasn't been any reason for me to do more than glance at it, so I'm not going to renew. Going to get me some Scientific American instead.
I read Esquire and The Economist, if you consider the latter a magazine.
Oooh look at meeee! I read the Economist! OOOOOOoooooooh!
I should have clarified that I attempt to read it. I have a hard time caring about why the most recent election in Great Britain might affect their inflation rate by 0.2%, so I end up skipping large-ish sections.

I still get Discover in the mail for some reason, even though I haven't given them any money in years
i read esquire, new york and the economist regularly. from there it's mostly just whatever cover catches my eye at the newsstand, so from month to month my reading habits vary pretty wildly.

I don't subscribe, but I often read/pick up photography magazines.
ignoring the fact that weekly news magazines are a thing, the economist pretty much never comes off as unbiased. their articles are thoroughly opinionated.
I would subscribe to photography magazines, but I just never seem to get around to it
Also that costs monies and stuff.
I dont think Ive ever paid more than 10 bucks for a subscription, with the exception of Variety which is hella spensive. Also, I use my skymiles a lot since I have a ton banked and only use them to upgrade myself to first class.

I grab Entertainment Weekly when I see it along with Nintendo Power. I don't know why I still buy Nintendo Power anymore though. It's not that great and the articles are meh. The posters can be sweet though.
I have a subscription to the Economist. I kinda avoid the business and finance sections but the for the most part the politics sections really keep me more updated on a weekly basis regarded world events than TV or internet does, because I don't read the newspaper (I honestly find it a hassle, so many fucking pages and having to fold them and shit). Also their obituary is always good.
I used to have a subscription to Game Informer but then I realized how full of shit "gaming journalism" or the "gaming media" is and how you are paying for advertising, basically

Mostly, I just read National Geographic and Popular Mechanics after my parents are done with them. They save them up and give them to me in big bags whenever we see each other. It's like Christmas in...well, December, usually.
I got a subscription to PC Gamer this past year, but only because one of my younger cousins was peddling magazines at a family reunion. One of those things where if he sells enough his school gives him fabulous prizes and if he doesn't sell enough he loses his cafeteria privileges.
It's really amazing how far downhill that magazine has gone since the last time I subscribed to it...which was, incidentally, the last time I was peddling magazines for my school in exchange for cafeteria privileges. I don't know if the internet is killing the magazine trade or what, but PC Gamer is ridiculously slender and about 75% advertisements by volume these days.

yeah, the economist's obituary is pretty consistently fascinating
My dad had a national geographic subscription from the late 70s or ealy 80s up until about 6 months ago. He canceled because they won't adjust their Canadian pricing to compensate for the now much higher dollar.

I don't know why
Actually I love watching TMZ, too, so I guess that's pretty accurate.
but it's being sent back home
so my brothers probably read it
w.. why wouldn't you
GQ is pretty awesome, there are some really well done articles in there on occasion. Also hot women.
Because it's much more like a newspaper.
it's a great mag though
i'd subscribe to other stuff if i cared to dump money into that.
my dad gets Car and Drive and Motor Trend though, but only because he got a good deal.
Yeah, I wasnt sure what to consider Variety since it comes every business day, but the internet tells me it is in fact a magazine.
i look at it on the toilet
this is some snooty shit

I used to get Wired, and enjoyed it
it's too bad that  doesn't work anymore.

all just letting them accumulate in your garage until you reach a tipping point, when you donate them to goodwill.
i used to flip through a bunch of photo magazines at my old job. a surprising amount of nude photos. tastefully done. and sexy.
Also that costs monies and stuff.

I'm probably just going to let my Maxim subscription run out. Such a shitty magazine.
