Easy now, well the titles a little misleading, it's not really an art dump at the minute, i'm only sticking up one image for the moment, but rather than clog up the board with a load of single image threads i thought i'd stake out a claim for my own little corner of the PA forum right here to post my stuff
I loved the Iron Man movie (saw it three times while it was out) and quickly did this last night, was bored and needed a little break from Flash, maybe two and a half/ three hours total:
The rendering is pretty nice, but I feel like the stylization applied to the anatomy is a bit strange.
Also, it sort of looks like the drawing is done in three different perspectives. One for the head, one for the foremost arm, and one for the rest. Which, of course, makes the body language strange, ambiguous, and unnatural.
Cheers for the reply, i was simply going for a cartoonish "chibi" look with my digital paints applied to it.
Anyway, heres one from a couple of months back that i thought i'd stick up on here, i'm a bit of a nutter for all things Japanese (i'm no otaku however, going to Akihabara taught me what being otaku really is! lol) and one night i thought it'd be fun to actually meet Totoro. I'm on the left, my mate Glynn is the one on the right.
(My Japanese mates are demanding to be placed into this, so an updated version will be posted eventually)
Well i took a fresh look at my Iron Man sketch and i thought he did look a little funny, fortunately i keep all the layers in Photoshop well organised so it wasn't more than ten minutes work to fix him up, i think he's looking much more balanced and chibi-esque now
I hate to be the harshest critic, but - what I think is really killing it is the huge torso. As far as I know, the huge bust/tiny waist exaggeration is not typical of chibi. From what I know (almost nothing, so excuse me if I am judging the genre incorrectly) chibi is something of the opposite - with a more simple cylinder for the entire torso.
And this makes your stylization non uniform, and distracting. Iron man is not really known for his chest size anyways. Now if this were the hulk, that would be a whole different story.
I gotta agree with Sublimus. The original Iron Man and this new one still bother me. I think the rendering skills are great, but something is still wrong with the chest.
Hahaha, i like it, i really do, but i think you're looking a bit too deeply into it there mate, all i did was scribble a super deform style Iron Man into Photoshop, then with nothing better to do, add some colour on top. thats all, theres no sinister motivation here.
Any character in SD form isn't terribly original, it's just something to do when you have a little spare time on your hands:
Usually when i'm messing around i do a Spider-man sketch, but i've been a little bored of him recently, Iron Man was as good a choice as any till i get round to seeing another superhero flick (probably Hellboy 2, then i'll be scribbling Hellboy sketches onto any piece of paper i come across then :P )
Well in an effort to restore my tarnished name from the claims of plagiarism on this board i felt like i should bang out another Iron Man sketch this morning, taking into account what some people said, such as a similar background (brown) and pose (flying and using his repulsor rays), i did this:
I think it's safe to say that this new and improved Iron Man is sufficiently different! lol
(Well i mean if i'm going to get called out for drawing him flying and using his repulsor rays (which as far as i'm aware is pretty much the full scope of his powers in the film), then that leaves me pretty much boned.)
Anyway, i hope this satisfies everyone, seriously, it was just a dumb sketch from the back of my head, not a portfolio piece or anything, the last thing on my mind is to try and fuck over any other artist on the net, i just enjoy drawing and showing my art to others
Alright all, been a while, here's a piece i did for a friend of mine, she's a big fan of Shadow of the Colossus, and one night this image just popped into my head
yeah not only are you a great artist but you've got the right attitude, the come back for the plagiarism thing was just awesome!
which makes you a perfect fit for this forum and i hope you continue to contribute and post your work!

This a thousand times
but i think you should replace the B's in your name with 13. It's really awesome.
Thank you everyone for the cool responses, i tried really hard with this piece (although i'm already finding faults with it, but that's the way it goes right?), i really like the vibe on this board so i shall continue to try not be a dick round here
About my name though, bboy stands for break-boy, or breakdancer as it is referred to in the media, i can't really go changing it as it is who i am, if you get my meaning, everyone who breaks comes with the prefix "bboy" or "bgirl" in their name, i'm not the greatest bboy out there, but it's a fun exercise that keeps the weight off and it get's me out the house

I used to aspire to learn breakdancing
I then learned it was way too fucking hard and now i don't breakdance so moral of the story i am lazy and hi5 for being good at stuff
Looking for a couple of crits on what i can do with this, i've been working on it on and off for a couple of nights now, but i find myself just not giving a shit about it, normally i have fun with whatever i'm drawing, but this... i dunno, all i feel is a big "meh" if you get what i mean.
Still to add details to the crowd behind the chicka, details to her clothes, and kanji to the signs.
Any advice on what i can do to turn this around? otherwise i might just drop it.
The second Ironman is pure genius. Diggin on all your stuff in general.
It's funny that you are meh about the new piece because it really comes across in the work itself. There is nothing bad about it, it just is missing a certain something. I dunno
Well it's been awhile, how you all doing? I was bored late last night and started scribbling on a blank page in Photoshop, finished it just now and ended up with a picture of Russia's finest, Zangief
Probably the last image i'll get done in 2008, weird, happy new year everyone!

Pics are looking totally badass at the moment. I like the colours used. I want to see more!!!
Hope you stick around, would love to see more of your stuff.
Cheers for the crits!

Nice colors on both pieces.

:^:
Peace.
that is awesome
first, i almost didnt click this thread solely on the fact that your name is absurd.
second, this is why i love you:
First, you post a relativly cute ironman, get crits, then fix him up a bit.
Then you post a fucking fuck awesome totoro (i lived in japan for 1st and 2nd grade, and i loved the heck out of that movie)
then you get accused of plagarism
and i go shit, i should have trusted my first instinct.
then you post a chibi pink backround roundhouse-kick to the face drawing
and then Shadow of the collosus thing
oh man i love you
which makes you a perfect fit for this forum and i hope you continue to contribute and post your work!

Come hang out in the [CHAT] thread. That's where the cool kids go.

I kid I kid. I'm liking the exaggerated expression, I just wanted a pic of the big Z in his morning robe after a bender.
