I have a 1991 toyota camry with a sun roof that opens up all the way that broke about 3 years ago. Due to it's design (to open it drops down and is stored inside the roof) the mechanic we took it to just used spacer to keep the glass part sealed to the roof so water wouldn't leak in. sadly, it's not sealing very well anymore and water is leaking in. So now i basically have water sitting in the space between the outside roof and the interior ceiling. it sometimes runs out through various exits inside the car, getting me and my passengers wet. It has also made my car smell really, really bad and mildewy. I have no idea how to get this water out, or if i will cause lasting damage.
Can anyone giving me a some general advice and help here?
General Advice: Don't cheap out on shoddy quick fixes.
You're probably going to end up having to fix the window correctly, and tear out and replace all the materials in the roof to get rid of the water damage.
