So I have a friend who's growing pumpkins in her backyard. The soil seems to be pretty decent as a couple of them took root and started to have vines creep. Some of them started flowering as well. None of the actual fruit has sprouted yet.
Now the problem is, she had some work done in her backyard, and in keeping it short, her plants were trampled. I haven't seen the damage first hand, but I've been told some of the roots have been trampled, some of the flowers have broken off, and some of the stems have snapped.
I'm curious as to if any of the plants are salvageable. I don't know the exact date at which they started sprouting, or how long she kept them inside before she transplanted them. She started in June, they've been in the soil for about 3 weeks. I assume pumpkins are pretty hearty plants so I hope that they're still SOME possibility of them bearing fruit.
They'll survive, might just take a while for them to regrow. Its possible to grow them up frames/patios etc too, you just have to tie a string bag around the pumpkins themselves so they don't fall off the vine too early.
