Help with finding a laptop

DekabalDekabal Registered User regular
I'm looking for a laptop that I can play my steam games and world of warcraft on. It doesn't need to be super high graphics but I am looking for one under $800. Thanks.

This is relevant to my interests...

I've been doing a little looking, and all I've found is the Dell M1530 with the 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT at a decent price. You can get it for a little less than $1200 with a little luck and some sales. There has got to be something cheaper out there.

    via SD:

Dell Home has Dell Studio 15 laptop for $754 or $731 with free shipping

    1. Click here
    2. Select the following options
    1. Jet Black [subtract $25]
    2. Uncheck Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Internal (2.0) [subtract $20]
    3. Checkout, select free 2-business day shipping
    4. Your total will be $754, or $731 if you pay with DPA

    Specs
    Core 2 Duo T5850 (2.16GHz/667Mhz FSB/2MB cache)
    Vista Home Premium
    3GB DDR2-5300
    15.4" 1280x800 w/integrated webcam
    256MB Radeon HD 3450
    320GB Hard Drive (5400RPM)
    8X DL DVD+/-R
    Dell Wireless-G Card

It's a pretty solid config for the money. The Studio line looks like a more angualr XPS, copying the XPS line's screen hinge and slot-loading optical drive. The 3450 is between an 8400m GT and an 8600m GS.

Open-box and out of stock? Not really an option.

Forget the exact model number, but Toshiba had a 15.4" AMD on the Puma platform with the HD3650 mobile part. A305D I think - was around CDN$800 on sales earlier.

Can't do anything about it going OOS (it was available when I posted), but I had no idea Newegg's open-box policy was so shitty. PCs on Dell Outlet, which are all return/refurb, have the same 1 year warranty as new machines.
