Long trip ahead, need some music

Hey everyone in H/A,

Tomorrow I have a dreadfully long car ride to Oregon from California (about 14 hours) and need some more music to load onto my Zune to make it...somewhat bearable.

I'm really into trance and techno, but I also like everything else besides country. I'm having a hard time thinking of anything I'd like, so any recommendations on some great music would be much appreciated. Rap, rock, metal, punk, trance, hip hop, vocal...all of that is fair game.

Thanks!

I downloaded Corrupted Waterfall, and I actually think its pretty good. I'll most likely just pop that on during the drive up since I've kinda worn out the rest of my trance library :P

    Thanks man!

Daft Punk's Discovery or Alive 2007 make great traveling music.

I actually don't have those 2 discs from them, so I'll get right on that. Thanks DarkPrimus!

I also highly recommend DANGERDOOM for some really fun listening. MF DOOM + Dangermouse + ATHF and guests = win.

Well if you get a few other recommendations from folks here, I'd say just pick one or the other and get more discs from other artists. :P

Any support is fantastic, I'm still pretty new to the whole thing. If you've got a keen ear you can actually hear a botched cut after 'Beachball' that eluded me until I'd heard it on a friend's sound system, which I just havnt found the time to fix. Constructive criticism you might have is more then welcome. :winky::^:

Sure, after I sit down with it and get some listens I'll let ya know.

Also, good call on Shad, Kris. Really digging this.

Again, I sound like a broken record, I apologize in advance.

    Venus Hum.

This isn't their music video, but the song is theirs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ffv3AIKIqZw

If you liked that song, you'll LOVE Venus hum. Their upbeat stuff is perfect to keep you pumped/energized during a car ride.

Pretty much anything from their album "Big Beautiful Sky" is golden for this purpose. Their newer stuff is a bit slower... still good, but not as upbeat and action-y.

Wow that was really good. Gonna snag this one too before I go to bed. Thanks!

Woot, cool! =)=) Yeah, if you can, get that whole "Big Beautiful Sky" CD. They have some downbeat stuff on it (which is still good in its own right, but it's like it's a whole different group), but most of it is along the lines of Montana in terms of upbeat energizing electric style.

    DJ Mystik
    DJ Tiesto
    DJ Quicksilver

Anything from these 3 artists will keep you entertained. Also ATB is really good. Paul Oakenfold's A Voyage into Trance is great.

Tiesto should have retired years ago. Go with AVB, grab some ASOT episodes or something.

    Kraftwerk's Minimum Maximum

    They Fucking Invented Techno

EDIT: Also Lewis Black's autobiography as a book-on-tape. Narrated by the author, and actually interesting new material instead of stand up re-treads. It's excellent.

What I'm currently listening to a lot:

The Black Keys: Rubber Factory is my favorite but they're all good. Really good blues rock guitar + drums duo.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBPGm4Fbo0Q

The Reverend Horton Heat: Again they're all pretty good. Fun Psychobilly stuff.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URVaQ3v0svE&feature=related

The World Inferno Friendship Society: Just the Best Party or Addicted to Bad Ideas. There's at least one saxophone and two percussionists all the time, and the ringleader is an undead lounge singer.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zq-97bFOrNY

Murder by Death: In Bocca al Lupo is my favorite. I think I just recommended them this morning already. Great rock with an awesome cello player.

Thanks for all of the really great suggestions everyone. I just got here about 20 mins ago and the music really made the ride bearable.

I basically had Venus Hum, Daft Punk, and some old ASOT episodes I had on and it was just really calming driving through the middle of nowhere haha. I'm definitely going to need this stuff on the ride back later this week, so I'll be sure to fit everything else into the rotation (or if there are more suggestions, maybe I can snag some before I have to leave). Thanks again everyone!
