uh, the "studio" in question is legendary pictures
they don't exactly fuck with the movies their people make
"studio" is not just some by-word for "the corporate suits who screw movies up with memos" people
There is that.
I remain pretty cynical about movie studios, but now that you mention it, I guess Legendary has been very consistent with letting their directors direct the movie and keeping focus groups out of it.
some people just don't really know how movies work
the vast majority of corporate suit douchebaggery and memos and "can you change this stuff" comes from 2 groups of folks, neither of whom is the studio.
1 is the MPAA (can you remove/edit this thing so we can give you a PG 13 rating as that is the money rating)
2 is the distrubitors (the company that actually makes all the prints of the film and sends them to the theatres and handles all the marketing)
the distributors for watchmen are warner bros, because hey hey time-warner owns DC
the MPAA might take some issue with the film but i seriously doubt it. i can't think of any part of the comics that would push past an R, and R is Zack's target rating.
Warner, historically, doesn't ever ask it's film-makers to change anything outside of "do what the MPAA says to avoid NC 17 or you won't make fuck all"
there is far, far less focus-group, change-this-because-it-markets-better nonsense in the modern film industry than people actually think goes on.

There's a date for the Warcraft movie!? I thought they just kind of bought the rights just so they'd have them when they got around it it.
Man... I am kind of curious as to how they plan to handle it.
I heard "In the Warcraft universe but not based on any of the games in-particular." which is both good and bad.
The CG cut-scenes in Warcraft III are dramatic and really excellent, but a live-action equivalent doesn't sound like a good idea.
Since I'm no-longer invested in WoW I really don't give a damn if it's bad but I would be lying if I didn't say I'd be pretty likely to see that movie if it gets half-decent reviews.
you know i liked the direct-to-dvd sequel to the dungeons & dragons movie
it was actually a dungeons & dragons movie
I recently sat in on two D&D sessions. The first one was pretty fun and I got into it.
The second one was boring and whiny and I had to leave.
Still, I can see the draw. If you cut out the lengthly character-creation process, the time it took for the DM to put a scenario together and managed to find a group that was somehow devoid of that one guy who will not stop interrupting everyone because he craves attention (and the other guy who doesn't speak at all for 90% of the game) I could possibly enjoy playing it.

the most recent edition of D&D at least solves the chargen issue, chargen takes like ten minutes tops.
finding a good group of folks is, ultimately, the hardest part of D&D

This was 4th edition.
I think the major thing was that there were a lot of players that were new to the game so the DM took time to sit with each personally and help them create a character. It was 2 weeks before the actual game started.
Man am I the only one excited about a Where The Wild Things Are movie?
I joined the facebook group awhile back to "save" that movie because apparently they were going to cancel production. I haven't heard much of it since.
So, I picked this up a couple months ago from a used book store for a couple bucks. Decided to give it a read after seeing the trailer before The Dark Knight.
Damn.
I haven't heard for certain, but I would assume so
they've usually been the same for the other releases, and this is high-profile enough
Don't know about IMAX though

HHmm, good luck with that. I'm crashing Reading downtown, because I can't stand the thought of co-workers spoiling yet another movie while I wait to see it at the Embassy.
We won't be seeing The Escapist until next week (so looking forward to it.) But we did see Bigger, Stronger, Faster tonight (the steroids movie) and it was great/hilarious.

what
those dates next to those films are meaningless and probabyl made up by someone on wikipedia
It's actually just a three hour video of a person playing World of Warcraft. There's no sound, and the camera they are using is kind of low-quality.
I plan to see it four times
There's a timely subplot about a raid-leader needing more DOTs.
You're going to make me look up what that means, aren't you?
how the fuck would that even work
In Defense of the King: A Dungeon Seige Tale
Dungeons and Dragons: Starring one of the Wayans Brothers
it was actually a dungeons & dragons movie

i just can't see it being good
a lot of children's books should stay that way
Okay I know this was like five pages ago but Keith shut up
Goodnight Moon
directed by M. Night Shyamalan
Damn.
I should have read this earlier.
so shit hot that my girlfriend wants to read it
Sarah had never read a comic book.
I let her borrow Watchmen along with a few other choice titles last summer.
She's now pretty hooked on comics.
I love converting people over to nerdy hobbies.
Absolute edition?
he doesn't like it because robin is a girl
mine's made out of Hawaiian Punch
they've usually been the same for the other releases, and this is high-profile enough

PS: one of you two give thumbs up/thumbs down on The Escapist.
We won't be seeing The Escapist until next week (so looking forward to it.) But we did see Bigger, Stronger, Faster tonight (the steroids movie) and it was great/hilarious.
