So heres the problem; My wee brother was browsing the net on his pc as usual and then it froze. He turned it off and tried to turn it back on again but to no avail. The PC makes a whirring noise like it usually does when first starting up but continues doing this far longer than it usually should and also nothing comes up on the monitor at all, in fact the monitor doesn't seem to recognize that it is connected to a PC at all.
Anyone got any ideas what's up with it and if it would be fixable by ourselves? If not it should still be under warranty so it's not a big problem.
Only have one monitor and it trys to connect to the pc, it comes up in the corner of the monitor "Analog" or "Digital" and switches between them so I'm certain it's not that.

Sounds like a video card and/or video cable issue. Do you have anything you can hook the monitor up to? A spare computer or laptop for instance.

I'm on a laptop at the moment but the cable doesn't fit in it so I will need to find something else to test it on.
I had considered this theory but the fact that the computer doesn't seem to be loading up properly at all made me think it was perhaps something else that was affecting the video card aswell, like a motherboard issue or something, but I don't know enough to properly guess.
Does it give a beep after starting up? No beeps doesn't necessarily mean anything, as your particular BIOS/Motherboard combination might not if it has issues with RAM or video cards. Some will give a beep code to tell you what it was. If it's long and drawn out, it's usually memory, if it's 3-4 it's video card [in my experience, YMMV with your particular BIOS], if it's a single short beep, that means it POSTed correctly and you have no issues with that and is most likely with some other piece of hardware.
