So, after the dismal failure thus far to get anyone to pay to play for online gaming on the pc Microsoft has decided to make their Windows Live service (essentially Xbox Live for the pc) free.
Games For Windows Live is "now offering completely free online multiplayer" service, Microsoft said in a statement posted on the service's Web site. The company previously charged a monthly fee of $7.99. However, the emergence of several free online gaming services may have prompted Microsoft to drop the monthly charge.
I guess this is good news, does anyone here actually use this service?
EDIT: And by pay to play pc service I mean the whole normal gaming, friends, messaging etc type service. (not mmorpg)

Its like someone from the future sent a self swinging clue bat back in time to club Microsoft and ended up missing the coordinates by a couple years. It happens, time travel is tricky.
